    Head scratcher…..

I was going to ask under what conditions I could have 100v between Live and Neutral…. Right up to the point I got 240 between Live and Earth. I’ve clearly borked the switch. It was a real time multimeter in hand post… soz.

    Head scratcher…..

Evening all. Soooo today I managed to trip an rcbo unintentionally by putting a faceplate screw through the conductor. Not my finest moment…. Now I don’t know what I might have done to the internals of the cooker isolator but… I’m getting in the off position 100v AC L>N 20v AC N>E Never...

35mm black box soxket with USB?

Morning, I think what your electrician is saying is that he has fitted 35mm back boxes, which is a good thing. There are USB sockets around that require a minimum of a 25mm back box, there isn't really a maximum. Providing the 35mm backbox is flush to the surface then it's all good. A USB Socket...

    Why don't they......

You’re right of course. And thanks all for the responses. Shouldn’t be surprised that manufacturers specifications which are pretty important aren’t clear

    Why don't they......

Oven 2 is conventional so no fan, it’ll be a typo. I could pull it apart and find out but my suspicion is it’s got 6x1kW elements for hi/lo grill, top and bottom ovens. Where did I put my screwdrivers…… Actually got 3 according to the spares list. 1800W Fan & 900/1300W conventional. Who knew….

    Why don't they......

I’ve stuck the power meter on the fridge just out of curiosity more than anything Product fische isn’t the greatest but I’m reading it as a 4kW max load. Top oven seems to be 4Watts…… Thanks for the replies gents. Appreciated.

    Why don't they......

Hi All, I'm remodelling a kitchen and currently I've got a 6mm feed going to a double oven, which also feeds a microwave. Oven is rated at a 4kW Max Load (from the product fische), Microwave is a 900W unit. Oven fische also says this.................... Energy consumption: 0.81 kWh (venting)...

    Magnaclean or Intatec Trade Tec???

Hello Everybody. Just wondering if there is much consensus on which of the 2 devices in the title performs better? I've got the Trade Tec fitted at the minute and it seems to be a single magnet construction, from what I've seen of the Magnaclean devices they use multiple magnets. Is it worth...

    Finishing plaster fixings???

Hi All, So the bathroom I’m remodelling had a plasterboard/skim finish that around the bath was in a sorry state. I’ve chopped out the crumbling boards to find that finishing plaster was used to dot and dab. I want to fix tile board in place of the removed plaster. Can anyone suggest a screw...

    Help please

Hello All, So I'm doing a bathroom remodel..............slowly. In taking the tiles off (honest that's all I was trying to do) large areas of the plasterboard have come away so I'm now at the point where I need to make a decision. Do I patch it with cement board or tile backer board (what are...

Adding sockets and lights in my garage - wiring sense check please

Sorry Mate but your drawing is confusing me with the flow. This is how I would do it but it takes no account of locations of anything which is what I think you're trying to show on your diagram. I've taken the fused connection unit spur off the last socket because trying to get 3 cables in...

Adding sockets and lights in my garage - wiring sense check please

I would think that you'll need to reduce your protection current by some to meet regulations. 32Amps is going to be too much for all your cabling in the Radial manner you're wiring it. If you have the option of using the device labelled fused double light switch as switched fuse in-line or...

wiring 2 loads up in in parallel to drop voltage (ed: he means in series)

Couple of guys called Kircchoff and Thevenin did some work on this kind of stuff a little while ago now I think. They both confused the hell out of me so I ended up using superposition and then chopping it up to fit the chaps above theories.
