Stainless or Galvanised Nails for 2nd Fix Nailer?

Thank you. That's very informative. All the work I intend to do with it is indoors atm.

Stainless or Galvanised Nails for 2nd Fix Nailer?

Thanks for the replies. I've just ordered a DW DCN660, which is probably overkill for what I want to do, but having looked at alternatives it seemed like a good bet. As I wanted to order various sizes for it and as there's a major difference in cost, I just wanted to check. I'm on the coast too.

Stainless or Galvanised Nails for 2nd Fix Nailer?

Hi, can anyone please advise a basic rule of thumb when and where each should be used. For example, my understanding is that SS should be used for oak skirting. Does the same apply to redwood / MDF or will the Galv be ok? Many thanks

Filling gap between mdf window board and window

Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to rip it out and replace. Hopefully, it won't cause too much damage. The reveals are all over the place anyway and was thinking of making a window liner. Has anyone else done this?

Filling gap between mdf window board and window

Thanks Burnerman, it's something I'll have a think about. Quick answer is no, unfortunately I'm a perfectionist, and one of the reasons it takes forever for me to get anything to a standard that I like. I think that the best solution is what you're suggesting. However, the window is in front...

Filling gap between mdf window board and window

Thanks for the reply. I've just had the kitchen plastered, although it isn't a brilliant job tbh. I'm unsure of the tech term (return?), but the board is bedded 20mm into the wall either side. I think that removing the board at this stage would create quite a bit of damage and as it's taken me...

Filling gap between mdf window board and window

Hi, any suggestions on the best thing to use to fill the gap with a seamless join, once painted. I've thought about using a strip of mdf or filling the bulk with bonding plaster and finishing with easifill, but don't know if it would crack. Removing the board is not a viable option. Many thanks

    Patching around sockets

Thanks for your reply. I've managed to get hold of a plasterer that we used once before. He's given me a price that I feel is reasonable for skimming the whole kitchen.

    Patching around sockets

Thank's for your reply. For a novice, would you advise the bonding method? I have the impression, I could be wrong, that it may be more difficult to feather if using plasterboard and tape, etc. Would Easy-fill be the way to go for the finish? I've 6 sockets to make good. Some need less...

    Patching around sockets

Thank's for the reply. For a novice, would you advise the bonding method? My concerns are about feathering and I have the impression, I could be wrong, it may be more difficult to get a smooth finish using plasterboard and having to tape etc. Would Easy-fill be the way to go for the finish coat?

    Patching around sockets

Hi, patching some largish holes around sockets, measuring upto 14" x 7". The walls are concrete block and I was thinking of PVA'ing, bonding then easy-fill. Would the perimeter of the holes need to taped prior to the use of easy-fill? I'm a complete novice when it comes to plastering. Will...
