Ridges from whacker plate (artificial grass install)

Thanks for replies, I’ll go over it a bit more. Do you think I should sprinkle some sand/grano dust into the “boney” areas first?

Ridges from whacker plate (artificial grass install)

Hi I’m trying to install artificial grass myself and at the stage of compacting the type 1. I’ve never used type 1, or a compactor before. I’m finding I’m getting ridges with every pass of the whacker plate, particularly when trying to turn (which isn’t easy in the tight corners). Am I missing...

MOT Type 1 on top of gravel

Thanks I’ll try and mix the stones into the type 1. Part of the area is covered in grass so once I’ve dug that out I’ll need some type 1 to build it back up so can’t really just use sharp sand as would be too thick a layer I think

MOT Type 1 on top of gravel

Hi I am clearing an area prior to laying artificial grass. Much of the area is covered in gravel/chips. Can I lay the mot type on on top of a thin layer of this before I compact it down? I’ve ran out of space in my skip for the rest of the chips so thought this would save me hiring another one...

Product for small patch in roughcast?

Hi I’m wondering if there is a product you can buy in small tubs to do small repairs to pebbledash? Keen to get it filled as it looks a bit worse than it did before winter! It’s a white colour I need, picture attached…

Tips for adding screws to chipboard floor

Thanks that would be my preferred method as don’t really want lots of holes in the floor, but just paranoid about pipes & wires. Hopefully once I lift the carpet, where the pipes are will be marked like on that picture from inside the cupboard

Tips for adding screws to chipboard floor

We have been in our house 18 months and the creaky floors are starting to drive me mad, so I thought I would have a go at fixing it. It’s all chipboard flooring which looks like it has been nailed down. I intend to drive some spax screws in to see if this helps. I’ll do a test in the hall first...

    Threshold question

Thanks I won’t be going right through as if I do change the other rooms it would be a carpet in one and tiles in the other. I really was just trying to figure out if I need to remove the wooden bits in the doorways at the moment or if not how finish the wooden floor up to them, and if it would...

    Threshold question

I am looking to lay wooden or laminate flooring in our entrance hall (green carpet below). What’s puzzling me is the house has wooden threshold strips built in to each doorway as you see in picture. If i lay the wooden floor up to these, would i need a threshold strip on to these? Would that...

    Small wall build

Having dug down and levelled off my garden last summer, I’m away to start trying to build a small garden wall, which will then be topped with slabs. Just a query regarding mortar, pointing. Should I just point this as I’m going or build it all and point afterwards?

Sleeper screws from front or back

You would surely see small holes if not the head to the bolt bit?

Sleeper screws from front or back

Hi I am building a small sleeper retaining wall/flower bed, 2 sleepers high. I have the posts in place in ground but trying to decide whether to screw the sleeper from the front into the posts, or from behind so the screw heads are hidden. It’s timber lock screws. From the front is probably...

Thanks for the replies, I got the metal anchors like suggested and has worked well. Hopefully the cabinet will still be up in the morning!

    What fixings to use?

I need to fit a new mirrored cabinet to bathroom wall. Walls are plasterboard, cabinet weighs about 13kg. Has 4 fitting points, one in each corner. What plugs/fixings would you recommend? The reviews of all seem mixed so would be good to know what people have successfully used! Thanks
