Okey doke. Thanks for this, i had an idea it might be that bit, have bled the radiators and that's taken it to 2.5 instead of the inital four but thats still too high so will do as you suggest with the filling loop. Here's my pics of our mess - sorry boiler set up!

Thanks both for your help! Have deduced from what you have both said that the bit I described as having no tap on it actually should have a tap on it, so I gripped it with some pliers and turned it and alas we have life and a decent pressure again. Thank you so much. I just know the plumber...

Hi Kevplumb, it does look like that but the bit in your pic with the white tap on - there is no tap on it. It just has a screw style inside but then nothing actually screwed into it, if that makes sense.
