    Yes you can, lightly sand and apply a coat of Cover stain (Zinnser) then when dry apply what ever paint you like, I would use two coats of satin (crown) but the choice is yours.

    For the lowest sheen eggshell you need look no further than Little Green paints, not the cheapest but one of the best you can get and gives a nice clean low sheen finish.

    A light rub down / de-nib between coats is, in my view a good thing to do and have been doing it for the last 20 yrs.

    Before sealing the bath fill it up halve way with water, then seal. Allow 12 hrs before emptying water and using.
