We're having to tank the building we are renovating. On one wall there is a gas and electricity meter. Do we need to detach them/have them detached or is it possible to tank around them? Is membrane better or tanking slurry?

We actually have the same in our house, but are on a budget for this renovation and we'll be renting out so need a durable option.

Thanks for the advice. Is there a reason why the gas light isn't on or is it just a thermostat problem?

Could it be a problem with the boiler? The hot water is working but radiators not coming on.

Turn of events. Looking back at the Land registry title plan, the portion of the courtyard (and thus the wall) owned by the neighbour looks to be much smaller and doesn't include said wall for said pipe. There's hope yet! Now I need to find a surveyor to confirm the boundary line. Apparently...
