    Adding 32A Underground cable supply

It might not be an upgrade, maybe change is better language. We will have to agree to disagree on the last part.

    Adding 32A Underground cable supply

If your providing a TT then they won’t care but you specifically asked about my comment of the DNO not allowing the export of their earth and why do they care. If you're providing a TT you're not exporting their earth for them to care. Sorry that part was poorly written and the last sentence...

    Adding 32A Underground cable supply

The DNO are under no obligation to supply an earth. If we ever have earthing issues from the DNO it’s always best to be overly nice and avoid them telling you to fit an earth rod. I’m not 100% sure of the reason why as DNOs take a different stance. My best guess would be because exporting to an...

    Adding 32A Underground cable supply

That’s sound. If you ask the DNO they would never usually allow you to do export their earth. Most sparkies don’t ask and do it anyway. Certain installations should be treated as TNCS even when they are TNS, such as EV charging and hot tubs. The DNO could upgrade a TNS to TNCS which can cause...

    Adding 32A Underground cable supply

Either option is fine. The outbuilding supply cable and circuits are protected via the MCB with additional protection from the RCD at the origin. How you split the load then and protect individual circuits in the outbuilding is up to you and the equipment loading. Providing your sw fuse can be...

    Combined Manhole Query

Turn out I got very lucky. Cut the collar off, very carefully took the broken piece off and was able to clean up the face back enough to still get the clay to plastic coupler on without a lip. Thanks for all the suggestions

Concrete sounds like the best option. Never thought of doing that. Thanks guys. Edit. Normal concrete or mix something like a sharp sand and cement hard mix as if I were redoing the benching?

    Combined Manhole Query

I had a look for the DC1 yesterday but they only seem to make them for the 110. This is 160 sadly.

    Combined Manhole Query

What kind of manhole is this called, if it even has a name? We have been replacing the pipe that will be going under our new extension. I’ve posted previously about them leaking for advice. After chatting with the neighbours several of them have had collapsed drains and problems with leaking...

    Drain connection to main run.

That was my initial idea to come upwards with a swept tee and an elbow, maybe a 30 or 45 if I’m lucky to drop in. It was this ‘dropping in’ that I wasn’t sure would pass with BC. Cheers for the reply, I can crack on now :)

    Drain connection to main run.

Just a quickie if I can please. I discovered some of the clay pipes on my property have been leaking and causing damp, so now I have the weather I’ve been exposing them to repair. I thought I’d kill two birds with one stone and add a sink to my workshop as I can dig a new drain. However, the...

    Solid Concrete Floor Questions

Thanks for the reply. That's great thanks. I was going to use polystyrene sheets at 75mm for the insulation for cheapness although I was told I should use 100mm celotex, would the polystyrene be ok for the edges?

Oh forgot to add I'd be sticking some insulation in the floor as well!

    Solid Concrete Floor Questions

Hi all, I'm after some advice on a solid concrete floor which I'm doing as part of workshop/summerhouse build. I'm doing most of what I can myself. Mainly the block work I wont be doing. I'm ready to start doing the solid floor and understand needing hardcore, sand, dpm, concrete and screed...
