something else i've just noticed is that i have the heating turned off and the water heater turned on but the radiators are red hot when they shoudn't be. any ideas ?

yes, i turned all gate valves and inline valves off.

yes, all the radiators are hot and have been bled. i have hot water coming through the taps now but only a trickle. when i removed the radiator i capped off the pipes, would that have caused my problem. thanks

after draining the system how long does it take to refill and reach correct pressure?

errrmmmm???? not sure what sort of system, all i know is the boiler is back of the gas fire and the water tank upstairs. i wanted to remove the radiator from the kitchen so i put hose pipe onto the valve thingy underneath. i also turned every valve or tap off that i could find in the airing...

i've just installed a power shower with my first attempt at soldering the fittings. i usually go for the compression type but fancied a challenge. what i need to know is when using a blow torch how far away from the fitting do i keep the flame or do i have to heat the fitting and not the pipe...
