I thought it was where the X was, as it had a lead running from it, and when I pulled it. The siren stopped. However in hindsight, I bet that's the siren and even pulling the battery wouldn't make a difference given it's hard wired.

Ah perfect thank you. I think I have just confused something else on that board with what I thought the battery. I suspect I actually disconnected the siren and I thought that cable led to the battery but couldn't see as it's obscured by that mottled clear plastic over the top. It sounds like...

I did do that about 9 months or so ago and worked to balance out the rads as suggested above, it seemed to be better in October but haven't had guests stay overnight in December. Been more distracted by the noise of the boiler which is somewhat noisy !
