How to remove evaporation tray on Miele fridge freezer?

Thanks, I used an old toothbrush. Worked pretty well. Couldn't see any way to clean the pipe running down from the inside of the fridge, so I've run some dilute bicarbonate of soda through it. At least it isn't blocked... Thanks again, problem fixed i think

How to remove evaporation tray on Miele fridge freezer?

Hi I have a Miele fridge freezer KFN 8462 SD. I'm trying to remove the evaporation tray (sits above the compressor) to clean it following a milk spill in the fridge (smells terrible, not surprisingly!). Just cannot release it. It is made of rather soft plastic so I don't want to force...

Water ingress through top of 4 window frames

Hi, just to close this off. I managed to get a ladder up during the storm last week and found the gutters completely full and overflowing :(. I've now cleared them properly and things seem to be OK, although I'm planning to replace them anyway. Quite a lot of redecorating required, and there...

Water ingress through top of 4 window frames

I live in an old stone house (built 1830s) with an extension built in 1970s. Front of house (facing south) has 4 downstairs wooden sash windows, 2 in the original house and 2 in the extension. During recent storms I've had significant amounts of water coming through the top frame of each of...

Plugging computer equipment into lighting circuit

Well, I like a challenge  But in fact the situation isn't that bad anyway. Phone line comes into my study at one end of the house, which is where my modem/router is located. An access point (Linksys WAP54G) there only covers about half the house. But I've set it up to repeat the signal...

Plugging computer equipment into lighting circuit

Good point, I'll definitely try it with an extension cable first. One reason I'm having coverage problems is that I live in old house with thick stone walls. Access point in the roof MAY mean the signal can travel vertically through the (wooden) floors rather than horizontally through...

Plugging computer equipment into lighting circuit

I need to install a wireless access point in my roof space in order to get coverage all over the house. Only existing cabling there is for lights in the upper floor of the house. Any issues in connecting an electrical socket into that lighting cable for the power adapter to plug into? Wireless...

Tarry liquid dripping down outside of boiler flue

We've made a temporary connection using an old Peak Freans biscuit tin (!) and packed it around with fibreglass insulation. Seems to be working OK. Plan is to drop in a new 4" flexi liner inside the 6" liner that is there, as 4" is quite adequate. Any problems with that? Again, thanks for...

Tarry liquid dripping down outside of boiler flue

Does a temporary repair have to be completely airtight to stop dangerous fumes leaking out?

Tarry liquid dripping down outside of boiler flue

Thanks. There is a separate flue for the woodburner, which was installed when we moved here in 1997.

Tarry liquid dripping down outside of boiler flue

Decided to hack through the mortar and the problem is clear. See picture at http://photos.yahoo.com/mrh_cv The flue from the boiler was just laid into the flexi, a piece of old cast iron pipe laid over it, and mortar slapped around it. Can't really blame my plumbing/heating man, as we all...

Tarry liquid dripping down outside of boiler flue

Was installed by a local firm. Boiler was a replacement, and connected to existing angled flue pipe. I'll get on to them this morning...I hope. Thanks again

Tarry liquid dripping down outside of boiler flue

Thanks. Couple of photos at http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mrh_cv/my_photos Boiler turned off at 10.30 and now stopped dripping so sounds very likely to be condensation I guess.

Tarry liquid dripping down outside of boiler flue

Can anyone suggest possible causes of the following: Camray 5 65/90 utility boiler (oil fired) installed March this year in a utility room which is an extension built on the end wall of my house. (Old house, built 1835). Other side of the wall is a fireplace with wood burning stove, which has...
