yeah my drawing probably doesn't explain it entirely. They are actually trusses rather than just plain rafters and the cross bracing that passes through them is quite substantial.
Hopefully this helps
Hi there
Insulating our extension with 150mm foil backed boards between the rafters, but due to some obstructions they will stick out past the rafters. We then plan on screwing 50mm insulation backed plasterboard over this. There will therefore be a void where the rafters are. Does this need to...
Once the bonnets and gutters are on I'm sure it will only be a really keen eye that spots it, but I cant get my head around how it will work.
Perhaps its not that uncommon, but I couldn't find much about it online.
Is it ok to use two different height fascias on adjacent roof sides? I cant envisage how these would meet without looking like a dogs dinner. I've done some tests and the bottom row of tiles should start at the same height, so that should look ok.
Its a hipped roof on all sides on our...
Can anyone tell me what this connector is supposed to be please?
A 12mm compression fitting goes on but not sure what that but is that it comes with. Precious little instructions come with the unit. Maybe there is a part missing??
I'm going to be moving our front door and cutting a new gap in the wall. The wall is 2 leaf cavity wall both made of brick.
The new hardwood frame will need to be secured in place but I think the cavity should be filled. Where the old frame is the cavity has been filled with brick and mortar...
Morning all
This integrated shower outlet / bracket has quite a short 1/2" threaded connector on the rear. I'm connecting this to a 90 degree backplate elbow for support. But no matter how I connect to it, it seems I'm going to have to cut out some of the aqua panel.
I've looked for a...
Hi all
Theres probably a simple solution to this, but I have chased all of the pipes for my central heating into the wall. To avoid having joints in the wall I intended to put a 90 degree bend on the end of the pipe then join onto the pipework on the wall in pipe clips.
The trouble is...
We are going to be extending our 2 bed bungalow including a conversion in the original attic and the attic space created in the extension. The new extension attic will almost double the original roof space.
The original rafters and joists are 50x80mm.
As we need to beef everything up in...
Cheers woody
Would building control need to be notified? Or is that dependant on the local authority? I got a quote today for 10k. That's less than half what the structural engineer suggested but still more than I'd thought it should be. I'm getting some more quotes in to compare.
