Yes, the 3 R/Y/B are on one switch now whereas before the yellow wire was on a switch with the black wire (For the outside light) and on the other switch it had the red wire and the red wire (For the outside light) and the blue wire connected to it, as you can see if you follow the wires back...
Okay, this was the initial set-up with a plastic front on it:
And that was a double switch for an outside light (not connected up) and the living room light. Now it looks like this:
So am I correct that what I need to do now is earth the light switch with the green and yellow earth...
Working now! I'm thinking the red and black cables are for an exterior light that is not connected up - the cables are dangling above the exterior door taped up!
In the left hand picture the top switch doesn't turn anything on. The bottom switch turns the light on.
I think the light switch in the left pic is the original light switch and the switch on the right pic has been added afterwards. But I'm not sure how they've managed to wire it up.
Hi,
In my living room I have a double light switch that controls the living room light. On the other side of the living room door I also have a double light switch that controls the light in the living room. They are both double switches and yet they only turn on one light.
So I've bought...
I know you don't know the answer, but how and why has this happened? I thought cold water pipes usually burst?
Best to start near to the sink and work along the line of the pipe until I find the leak?
Any recommendations on how to get the concrete up without causing more damage to the pipes?
I've turned the mains stop tap off and the noise has gone.
This I assume is not good news.
The Kitchen extension is 2.5m and I can see where the pipes go into the kitchen from the cellar stairs and where they come up from the concrete under the sink. The noise is louder under the sink than...
Hi,
The kitchen is an extension and I walked in today to hear a loud hissing/air sound and I put my ear to the hot water pipe and that is where it is coming from. It sounds like a tap is running but all the taps are off. The sound stops when I turn the hot water tap on, the sound continues...
Hi
I bought a terraced house in west yorkshire last year. It has the original slate roof. Only one of the other houses has had a new roof put on. The rest (about 30) still have original slate.
I got up on the roof to fix some dodgy guttering and took a photo to see what state the roof was...
I'm not sure if that stopcock is working properly or not. I can't turn it all. It looks like it hasn't been turned for a while. The hot water literally dribbles out of all the hot water taps.
Here's my images. the controls look a little old. the one on the far left says 'honeywell' and when you press a button on that you hear a whirring noise and then it stops. could that be a problem with the valve?
The low water pressure isn't very good either, but this shouldn't be an issue...
yes, cold water expansion tank. None of the pipes have been reduced, all i did was extended them up to the new tank in the loft. I've uploaded some photos, I don't really know a lot of DIY, my dad helped me with it.
The hot water pressure wasn't better before but I thought that was because...
Happy New Year All!
This is my first post, so i apologise now if i don't describe anything quite right, bear with me.
I bought a 2 bed terraced house 4 weeks ago and have been doing it up. The expansion tank wasn't in the loft but directly above the hot water tank and it was a galvanised...
