Water collecting between bottom rail and cill

I had a rotten window replaced less than a year ago. The hardwood replacement has two opening casements and was installed having been primed. I painted the window myself (2 coats of decent acrylic paint) but recently found that both the paint and primer was peeling off the front portion...

Putting smart switch after fused spur

Thanks @EFLImpudence! The switched fused spur is already in place, so I shouldn't need to cut the earth wire at all.

Putting smart switch after fused spur

We have a heated towel rail with the electric supply coming via a fused spur switch in another room, as normal. I'd like to put a small smart switch between the fused spur and the towel rail, probably in it's own section of a dual surface pattress box, to better control the towel rail and to...

Replace Potterton EP2 with Hive - advice required

Sorry for the delay - the replacement went OK and it all works well. Thanks for the advice!

Replace Potterton EP2 with Hive - advice required

Thanks @stem, that makes a lot of sense. I like a tidy solution, so I'll try to find and remove the thermostat cable but, if not, I'll replace the thermostat with a junction box, as you suggest.

Replace Potterton EP2 with Hive - advice required

Thanks Chris. Yes, I should have included the wiring diagram for the Sunvic but you're right, the yellow is switched live and the red permanent live. For wire 5 in the EP2, I'll just remove it then. Appreciate the response and the work you put into looking at!

Replace Potterton EP2 with Hive - advice required

I got great advice here when I replaced a Potterton EP2000 with Hive (thanks @stem) so now we've moved and I hope to repeat the trick but with a Potterton EP2 and a Sunvic thermostat. This one looks simpler and previous threads help but am I right with the following: EP2 - match all wires to...

Replace Potterton EP2000 with Hive - advice required

Final update on this thread. I replaced the synchron motor for the motorised valve and everything has worked flawlessly since. It's too early to tell but, even in a big old house where every radiator has a trv, adding a thermostat has helped me control the heating more effectively and the fact...

Replace Potterton EP2000 with Hive - advice required

Yes, thanks, the water did come on this morning but the heating didn't, until I manually opened the valve. I'm still not 100% convinced that's the only issue but as it is relatively cheap and easy, I've ordered a replacement motor for the valve and will see what happens. The hot water valve...

Replace Potterton EP2000 with Hive - advice required

Looks like it is the motorised valve for the heating, when I activated the valve manually, the heating fired up. I have the hot water coming on before the heating in the morning, so will see whether that works but I suspect it will. And yes, Grant Multipass is a conventional, non-condensing...

Replace Potterton EP2000 with Hive - advice required

Maybe I spoke too soon. Having worked fine all week, the boiler now won't come on when the receiver tries to turn it on. I've tried re-booting the hub, etc. and the heating control system seems to be working fine but, when the light on the receiver comes on, the boiler doesn't fire. Before I...

Replace Potterton EP2000 with Hive - advice required

Hi All, I'm planning to replace my existing Potterton EP2000 with a dual channel Hive receiver/ thermostat. Currently we have no thermostat and all the rads have TRVs, so will primarily be using the Hive as a better scheduling capability with remote access. Existing wiring doesn't look too bad...
