Ahh , all makes sense now! I presumed that water directly heated by the boiler was going into the cylinder. But in fact it goes round a coil in the cylinder, which heats the water in the cylinder indirectly before going back down to the boiler to be reheated! Correct?

Hi All, Have a fairly old Y-Plan system. Baxi Bermuda 401 back back boiler, fully pumped (only two pipes coming from boiler. 3 Port mid positon Valve Hot Water Cyclinder, with Water tank directly above it, which feeds into cylinder. Smaller tank in loft that feeds CH system...

It is a Baxi Bermuda back boiler, if that helps at all? The valve, 3 port mid position one?

Do you mean the 3 port Mid-position valve? Sorry whats a ABV? I do already have 2 rads i think with TRV's on, just want to put on another 3 / 4 rads. I won't do one in hallway, which has the Room stat in.

Hi All, Now my Heating / Hot water is working as i like (thanks for help in other thread!) I need to make some adjustments to the radiators. 1. Adjust pipework downstairs where a radiator used to be, so a new radiator can be fitted, and also possibly add another radiator to the other side...

Hi All, gaswizard, i am not sure how it worked without the HW off connected before! Maybe it didn't and I was mistaken! I added the HW off today, and all is well. I can now fire up Central Heating, Hot water or Both! Thanks for all the help.

Hi, Just to confirm there is no HW off running to the GREY cable of the 3 port valve. I have took the front off the programmer,and the HW off (terminal 7) of old Honeywell ST699B is empty. Assuming all i need to do is run a link from there to the Grey cable of the 3 port valve? Thanks!!

Thanks all. Will check tomorrow. But from memory can only see two cables coming from programmer, guessing one is HW On and other is CH ON. Will confirm whether the Grey / HW Off is missing.

Hi, Yes I think that is what it is, how would it of worked with the Old valve, or couldn't of it? My programmer is an old Honey well type, looks similar to this, but older looking!! Would it have the HW off live as an option? http://www.honeywelluk.com/products/Time-Controls/Wired/ST799/

Hi, Thanks for reply. I have a similar diagram, and think I no what the problem is, I do not have a HW off live running too the Grey cable of the 3 -Port Valve / HW satisfied. Would that make sense?

Hi All, Wonder if you can help. Had a Danfoss 3 port Mid position valve replaced last year on my Y-Plan CH and HW system, the Plumber replaced it with a piece of rubbish, Altech 3 Port motorised valve. The reason we had it replaced was the old valve body had got stuck in the mid position...
