    Oiled decking now it's speckled

Hi all, Just oiled my decking on the weekend, soon after it rained but it said nothing on the tin about covering it after applying it. Now it's gona all spotted and speckly - any ideas? is it just because it rained? am I going to have to reapply and pray for it to stay dry? Cheers MMP

    Decking on my existing patio

Thanks that means a lot, we looked at a few of your posts before we started and found them useful. Cheers for that :)

    Decking on my existing patio

Yeah there are gaps in the wood and we moved our ledger away from the work by 'pegging' it out so that it isn't in direct contact. I was really pleased with the work we did, we are both relatively novice and I feel we've done a really professional job. Any ideas how much I would've paid...

    Decking on my existing patio

The damp proof course? I wasn't aware you could breach it? And from what other posts say from people who have done lots of decking it isn't even an issue.

    Decking on my existing patio

Guys, it took us 2 days but we've finished the first part of the decking. It's all supported by a decent framework underneath and has a weed membrane underneath. It was tough graft but we're pleased with the results. What do you think?

    Decking on my existing patio

Thanks for the replies, so you think the best thing would be to fix the foundation boards to the concrete patio? In that case would I still need to attach a leger board to the house? Also how would you recommend fixing the foundation boards to the concrete - do I use brackets or just screw...

    Decking on my existing patio

Yeah I know it's tight, I've seen another post where Thermo has actually built a lower platform for access to a door which I could do but would rather not if I can help it. I really want to attach timber to the walls and then attach the frame to that with a few supports under the frame at the...

    Decking on my existing patio

Hello everyone, I want to deck over our existing patio by laying the foundation joists over the patio. However, after browsing around on the net it looks like I might have to lift the patio and concrete posts in to support the foundation joists. My questions are: - Is it best to lift the...

Thanks for that I may give that a go for now. If I can put off getting the roof replaced for a while that would be better.

Old roof and very dirty loft- need some advice

Hi, We have a house that was built in the 1030's. To me it appears to have the original roofing. My problem is that we recently boarded out our loft to store some belongings and already our things are covered in thick black dust. It has got so bad that when we open the loft hatch and pull...

Water meter changed today but now no hot water??

Hi, I've had a few problems with my boiler and hot water before but got them sorted and all was working well. Today however, the water board fitted a new water meter externally, and when I have come to run a bath there was initial spluttering of the hot water (a brown colour) then ice cold...

Lots of problems with Vaillant Boiler, not sure what to do

You wouldn't belive it, I managed to get a good look at the shower head today. Turns out, when the plumber fitted our shower, he had left a small plastic "stopper" thing that I found inside the shower head. Only a dribble of water would be able to get through it and it was blocking all the holes...

Lots of problems with Vaillant Boiler, not sure what to do

I still fear that despite a better shower head the flow (although better) will still not be that strong, is there anyway to improve the flow to the shower?
