Fixing types for studding onto block wall

Thanks Noseall! I will do exactly that! As for wood type would you use PAR or sawn or does it not matter at all (the sawn tanalised I have had in the past for doing my decking frame wasn't really rough at all)?

Fixing types for studding onto block wall

Getting the garage conversion underway at last. Seen the building Regs inspector and he has specified 50mm insulation on the wall that meets my neighbour's garage wall, with 50mm Kingspan/Celotex between studwork. Same on wall that meets the kitchen (on the other side), buut only 25mm thickness...

    Integral garage conversion - foundations

Hello all and happy new year! I'm about to get started on my garage conversion, paid my building regs council fee for building notice submission. As per previous advice, I did my 2 way light switch and added a few more double plug sockets by extending the ring already (as it is non-notifiable...

Loft hatch on integral garage with partial pitched roof

As per a previous topic related to electrics (thanks to all who offered advice), i'm about to start a garage conversion. The garage is integral, but the front 1/3 of it juts out of the back of the house beyond the back wall, with that part having a piched roof above it. The pitched roof area is...

Garage conversion electrics - unrestricted work?

Banallsheds: That was what I was thinking, I was just after confirmation that if I do the 2 way switch and add a few plugs ("for the garage as a garage") before officially starting everything off then they have nothing to check on (electrics wise that may incur a further LABC inspection fee) as...

Garage conversion electrics - unrestricted work?

Just to clarify, as per John W's assumption, i'm not trying to do the garage conversion without any building inspection notification - the fee is £270 and it's a given that I will be paying it before I get started properly. I just want to avoid all those LABC inspection fees (that look like they...

Garage conversion electrics - unrestricted work?

I haven't submitted anything to the building regs people yet, for the project, i'm just at the pricing up stage. How would they know that the 2 way light switches and an extra few plug sockets weren't already there If they were fitted before the first inspection (apart from the trunking looking...

Garage conversion electrics - unrestricted work?

Sorry - it's a big post, but I put in as much detail as I thought necessary. My house has an integral garage at the back (the front third sticks out beyond the back wall of the house), with a side door from the kitchen and I am looking to convert it to a dining room/utility area (freezer and...
