ah! my home town for nearly 25 years! brings back memories! lol as regards the ball park, too many variables to get close but 3-4 k might be near. get 3 rgi,s in to get you prices. good luck.
its impossible to give advice on whether the quote of 8k is good or otherwise as each job is very different and has its own pitfalls. as always get 3 quotes from rgi,s and compare.
youre rgi should have made good around the flue before the flanges were fitted so to ensure poc cant get back into the room. mortar mix is ok.the flue should be angled falling slightly back towards the boiler to collect the condensation.
well true...... of course working pressure with all the other gas appliances running! mmm missed the bit where he said the boiler had packed up! :x
try turning both valves off and drain the rad. remove the rad and then with a bucket under one of the valves see what flow you get from the valve. repeat with the other. also see what colour water you get from the valves/ rad.
so you have a combi already? and it would be a "straight swap"? i asssume a condense pipe would have to be run to drain. again depends on your budget. people on here would suggest there favourites, Worcester 30 cdi, Vaillant, Ideal Logic 30 + are a few suggestions. as regards price every jobs...
