    Concrete or wood

All the pipework is buried in concrete in floor/walls of the house we are building, which I found a little worrying, but I was assured 'this is the way we always do it'. Ours is plumbed in PVC and galvanised pipe. Really, how often will you need to access the pipes? I'd bury a little sand...

    Water Butt Collection System

That does seem a bit back to front, but probably because the tap water is pretty awful, whereas rain is 'usually' fairly pure. My wife won't let me drink the tap water where we live.

    Central Heating, why?

Hell yes. Why just last month I had to get up in the middle of the night, a couple of times, to turn off the air-con. :D

So now the home-owner needs to supervise professionals as they ply their trade, look over their shoulder as they're doing their job?? I bet they'll love that.

    Insulating concrete floor with rockwool?

I'd not even screw the floor battens down. Just lay them out over the DPM and screw the chipboard over them. Maybe put something down so they don't cut the DPM, some felt or that green board they use under laminate flooring. I'm not sure if condensation would be an issue under the DPM. Maybe...

    Central Heating, why?

Hell yes. Real men go out and chop a tree down to warm up in the winter.

..covered in dirt and gravel, with other steel stacked on top, everything the web site recommends you DON'T do, as it damages the paint and causes rust.
