    Best w/b based gloss

Did you try this stuff in the end? If so, how did you get on with it? I'm about to paint some primed mdf skirting and trying to decide what to use. Thanks. :)

    Tiling bath/shower area, best surface?

Sorry should have said, we are having a p-shaped bath with shower fitted over. The two walls that will be affected are exterior brick walls, the side one also has a large window just to make things complicated! In fact the window will take quite a lot of the splashing from the shower, there's...

    Tiling bath/shower area, best surface?

Ok first off, sorry I'm sure this has been answered before and I've searched and read loads but I'm now more confused than ever! And I didn't know whether to ask in the Plastering forum or here but anyway... It's a fairly simple question really. I've stripped my bathroom walls back to the...

New T & G pine floorboards fitted - are gaps acceptable?

Thanks, I'll try that. Yes it's a suspended floor, the outhouses have been there since the house was built. They don't block the airbricks, in fact the ventilation is pretty good and there seems to be enough air bricks around.

New T & G pine floorboards fitted - are gaps acceptable?

Thanks very much for that. Is my best option with the creaking ones then to go round and make sure they are completely nailed down and maybe put a few more nails in them? Also I've read talcum powder is good for stopping creaks, worth a try?! At the end of the day we are just going to carpet...

New T & G pine floorboards fitted - are gaps acceptable?

Yeah living with the boards lying around wasn't really an option for that long as I have young children. They used clamps yes. They treated the joists but not the boards themselves, they said they wouldn't need treating for some reason. Maybe the type of wood, or would they be pre-treated?

New T & G pine floorboards fitted - are gaps acceptable?

Hi all, about two months ago we had our old downstairs floorboards replaced due to a nasty woodworm attack. The builders treated the joists and laid new tongue and groove pine floorboards as requested. However, they didn't allow the boards to acclimatise to the rooms before fitting, which I...

    Help - Asbestos Ceiling?

Hi, firstly apologies if this is in the wrong folder but I wasn't too sure what category ceilings come under. Basically me and my family have recently moved into a 1930s property that needs a fair amount of modernisation. In the bathroom and kitchen the ceilings were covered with polystyrene...

Baxi Platinum 33 HE or is there a better alternative?

Thanks for the feedback Kev, only thing is these new Duotec's have only been out a month or two so will be different to yours. Any plumbers out there installed the new duotec and got an opinion on them? Also, can anyone explain the difference between the Viessmann Vitodens 100w and 200w...

Baxi Platinum 33 HE or is there a better alternative?

Just to update, I've spoken to my plumber and he was really good actually: I was going to mention the new Baxi Duotec's coming with a free five year warranty, but he actually mentioned them first and suggested it would be cheaper than a Platinum so should take some money off the quote. I...

Baxi Platinum 33 HE or is there a better alternative?

Thanks muggles, I've had a quick read up on the Intergas and they do look good. Less bits inside so less to go wrong! Only thing that sounds like it might be a problem is getting hold of parts as they don't seem to be very prevalent at the moment. I do like the look of those new Baxi Duotec's...

Baxi Platinum 33 HE or is there a better alternative?

Thanks for the honest advice everyone! Mehran is it Vaillant's customer service that's bad? I think that was the reason the plumber gave for not using them any more if I remember right. Namsag, thanks for the info, I'll mention that to my plumber and see if he's aware of it. I'll also mention...

Baxi Platinum 33 HE or is there a better alternative?

Thanks for the feedback so far guys. I'll have a look at the Intergas and mention it to my plumber. Muggles do you not rate the Worcester Bosch then? My dad's got a 10 year old Bosch which he had serviced last week and the British Gas engineer said they are/were the best boilers you can buy and...

Baxi Platinum 33 HE or is there a better alternative?

Hi all, we need a new central heating system installed and have had a few quotes done. The guy that we are probably going to hire to do the work has quoted us for a Baxi Platinum 33HE and says they come with a five year warranty. He has also said that if we would prefer a different brand of...
