    New Boiler or Not?

I have recently fitted a Drayton Wiser heating control system, so we have made gains in efficiency there. The boiler was fitted in 2003, I believe that model pre-dates 2003. It seems it was new old stock. My main concern is that at some point in the near future Worcester Bosch will stop...

    New Boiler or Not?

Hi. I currently have a Worcester Bosch Greenstar R35 HE Plus boiler. It is working fine and we have a service contract with Worcester Bosch, although this is now costing in excess of £400 a year. I am in the mind of replacing the boiler while I still can. I don’t want a heat pump so I am...

Worcester Bosch Greenstar 35 HE Plus - Secondary Heat Exchanger

I have a service contract with WB for this boiler. Would a scaled up secondary heat exchanger be covered? For some years now our radiators have been getting hot in summer. In 2018 they changed the 3 way valve head. In 2019 they changed the complete 3 way valve. It still did it. In 2020 a...

Worcester Bosch Greenstar 35 HE Plus - Radiators getting hot.

We have just had our annual service and raised the issue again. The guy said he was a contractor brought in to help catch up because of COVID and can do no more than the service. He said it is probably a combination of the 3 way valve and the secondary heat exchanger. He said it is probably...

Worcester Bosch Greenstar 35 HE Plus - Radiators getting hot.

Hi. For a few summers we have noticed at times out radiators get hot. 2 summers ago the WB engineer changed the 3 way valve head, last summer he changed the complete 3 way valve, but still we are getting hot radiators, could this be a leak across the secondary heat exchanger? The water pressure...

    Garage Lighting

    Garage Lighting

Hi Harry. Just saw that the product information said it was suitable for a garage. I take it that ordinary Batten lights are okay then? Thanks Tim

    Garage Lighting

My garage lights have never worked since I bought the house. I am going to replace the existing Batten lights with IP65 batten lights. The cable that feeds the 2 existing lights is either 1 or 1.5mm standard twin and earth. Is that cable okay for a garage, if not what should it be? Thanks Tim

Fridge Freezer Not Getting Cold Enough

I have a similar issue with a Daewoo model. Although you say it is not a frost issue have you checked the coils aren't iced up in the freezer blocking the airflow. If it is iced up your frost heater has most likely failed. If not and the fan isv100% okay then it will either be low on gas or a...

    Radiators Getting Hot

The flow seems good from the hot taps/shower etc. It does seem to take a while for the hot water to come through though. Initially it was the radiator farthest from the boiler downstairs, it reaches around 50+ degrees C. This rad does not have a TRV on it. I shut off the valves and the problem...

    Radiators Getting Hot

I have a Worcester Bosch Greenstar HE Plus combi boiler that dates from around 2003. We have it serviced every year under a Worcester Bosch service plan. We noticed last summer that the radiator in our bedroom was getting hot. When the service was due the engineer changed the actuator on the...

    LED Lights Glowing When Off

Hi. I think I have a wiring fault and need some advice. I fitted some LED bulbs in a ceiling light where the room has 2 light switches. The bulbs have a very faint glow when turned off. My meter shows 7 volts at the light fitting terminals. What on earth could be causing this and is it dangerous?

    Damp

Definitely crystals. The end of the heater was touching the skirting board. The wall has previously been covered in white powder with I have washed down with bleach. I am guessing these are mould spores.
