Have been told that we need new fire alarm system. Advice sought please?

The alarm in the building I take care of, keeps going off. The alarm guy comes out and replaces call points , smoke sensors etc, but faults remain on the panel. a persistent fault is a double address error, which he can not remedy. Our system is a Morely ias zxa with one loop and 12 zones, it is...

can I run a 12v air tyre inflator from a 18v drill battery?

Its how I learn things I guess, by asking dumb questions. Logically, i suppose the resister should be in series, and it would need to shed a lot of heat too. I had large ballast resisters on a honda motorcycle's ignition coils which got rather hot I seem to remember. I never really understood...

can I run a 12v air tyre inflator from a 18v drill battery?

Ah, I guess the extra power needs to be lost as heat, rather than recycled

can I run a 12v air tyre inflator from a 18v drill battery?

the inflator is 120 watts , so if a reasonably efficient method be found, my battery should run for half an hour or more. Its more the theory that interests me than the practical. I have 18v batteries always at my disposal, which could (in a pinch) be used to power 12v radios, flashlights, etc...

can I run a 12v air tyre inflator from a 18v drill battery?

What components do I need to step the dc voltage of my drill battery (18v x 4ah) down to 12v to run a lower voltage appliance? What would a circuit diagram look like for this please?

I used to do cad drawings with autocad 2000 software. And i just cant get along with other versions. I have had to run a virtualbox program to run this in the past, but have forgotten how to configure things. Its just a major headache to work through the various settings, and to not have a fatal...

    mysterious ironwork

I lifted a flagstone to re seat it and found some cut off ironwork beneath. the curve of these 2 T-sections seems to be concentric with a vaulted cellar ceiling below. The building was constructed in the mid 17th century. the iron seems to have been gas cut with oxy / acetylene torch, judging by...

    Hedgehog house

I disturbed a hedgehog yesterday, and very nearly spiked him. I have built him a house to live in now, but have used tantalized timber, which is frowned upon in the hedgehog websites. What is harmful to them? is it skin contact or breathing in the chemicals? I could line the inside of his house...

Plastic overflow as prv discharge from unvented water heater?

Update.. I have returned the Ariston 15 litre water heater, and I am now shopping for a direct Fortic cylinder, as it has its own head tank , so venting or discharge is not an issue. I am thinking of an economy 7 type, as I only need the immersion element near the top, otherwise i will be...
