Water spurts out of top of rainhead!

We have a rainfall waterhead, barely used, quite new. Every time we use it, water gushes/spurts out of the top of the head, around the edges. Supplier blames this on buildup of limescale. We do get a fair bit generally in our area of London. Do you think this is correct or is it a...

    Is bath gurgling EVER correct?

Just had brand new bathroom and brand new plumbing system installed as part of full house refurb. When the bath drains, it gurgles loudly. The plumber assured me this was normal and is a sign that the pipes are running nicely and there was nothing he needed to do. The contractor said it gurgles...

Replace euro cylinder but can't locate screw on uPVC door

Thanks. Is there an easy and obvious way how to do this.

Replace euro cylinder but can't locate screw on uPVC door

We have 2 uPVC rear doors which lock into each other, with some sort of central white part attached to the one on the left. Wife's handbag was nicked and while we found it later in a nearby bin the keys for the rear doors were gone, so to be on the safe side, we're replacing both locks. I...

    CH suddenly not working

Stopped working overnight! Vaillant ecotec 630 plus...boiler fires up for one second then stops. There are no error faults. Pressure has dropped overnight by 0.5 bar from 1.7 til 1.2. Pressure had been stable beforehand. Loud clanging/metallic noises were audible from the motorised valves up...

    Quick query re lighting costs

    Ok, thanks. A standard uplighter, using a 300w halogen, costs £45. Am I correct that 2 hours usage a day would cost £52.50 per annum i.e. 2 hours usage a day = 700 hours a year @ 300w = 210,000w i.e. 210kW x 25p = £52.50 ?

    Quick query re lighting costs

Is the running cost of a floorstanding uplighter with a 90w bulb the same as that of a 90w bulb hanging from the ceiling? Our dining room has a 90w bulb hanging from ceiling, and 8 x 50w downlights. I try to use downlights as little as possible, unless entertaining, to keep costs down. But...

Party Wall Act - what benefits after work done?

It does seemly grossly skewed in favour of the adjoining neighbours. A little more research has revealed all sorts of horror stories online where great huge bills have been racked up by overzealous PW surveyors/solicitors. I'm thankful I didn't end up with anything like that. As far as...

Party Wall Act - what benefits after work done?

thanks for response. Any point/benefit in having someone prepare a schedule of condition now?

Party Wall Act - what benefits after work done?

We removed all breasts and stacks. The LABC clerk - not surveyor - advised that as there would nee nothing left to support, no b regs involvement would be needed. If this is this wrong is it worth getting it regularised now? What exactly would BC be able to inspect - there's nothing left! Nb...

Party Wall Act - what benefits after work done?

Am I correct that before the work has started the benefits to the adjoing neighbour are that they have the right to refuse the work initially being done, and to get a surveyor involved to ensure that any work done does not damage their adjoining property. What benefit is there after...

    Issues with removing chimneys complete

Yes, but could it be argued that any ensuing damage would be their responsibility, as caused by their actions? putting this aside, you haven't confirmed or clarified whether I could have caused any structural problems already by the work I have done, even before they have done any work to...

    Issues with removing chimneys complete

Do I understand correctly that If neighbors do nothing to their breasts or stack, the only possible problem is the stack becoming unsteady? I.e. but no issues within adjoining property Therefore assuming.they serve a p w before they start any work I will get to know before they start...
