Help! Do I need a new heat exchanger unit?

thanks for your replies. the diagnosis was made by an Ideal boiler engineer, not British Gas. Ideal are ordering a new HE which has to be made as it's an old boiler and the part isn't mass produced anymore. Thats what they are saying anyway. I have paid for the part now and am awaiting a...

Help! Do I need a new heat exchanger unit?

Our Ideal Response 120 combi boiler has been suffering constantly dropping pressure for some time now and we thought this was because of the PRV. On Sunday though, the boiler started dripping underneath from multiple points and now won't fire up. An engineer took one look at it and said the...

Help fitting a threshold guard/sill to our backdoor

Hi Woody. What are the other designs you talk of called and where can I buy one? The bottom of the door, on the outside, has a weatherboard so that's fine. The main reason we want a seal is because drafts and insects can get in under the door as its an old door.

Help fitting a threshold guard/sill to our backdoor

Our back door does not have a macclesfield sill of any kind and we want to seal the bottom of the door to protect from drafts and also ants and slugs crawling underneath in springtime. The base of the door is brick and the door itself is wood. Should we buy a macclesfield sill from Stormguard...

    Pressure relief valve leaking

The pipe leading outside of our house is spitting a little bit of water when the central heating is switched on. We have low pressure too even after filling the system to 1 bar it drops down to 0.5 when the heating is off. When the heating is on the bar is at around 1.5/2 which is normal...

ideal Response 200 boiler low pressure problem

I can't find the FAQ section on this website anywhere! There is a little water spitting out of the pipe outside the house when the boiler is on. Is this a problem as the pressure reads between 1.5 and 2 when the boiler is on which I believe is normal. I found a leak in the radiator last night...

Identifying name of valve on radiator which is leaking

thanks Bab! I haven't got a tool wide enough but will try this weekend with father in laws! When you say I need to isolate the radiator at each end with the valves - does this mean turning them off at each bottom value? Also is there any way to stop the leak in the meantime i.e by turning...

Identifying name of valve on radiator which is leaking

thanks! This nut shaped blanking plug looks like something I should be able to have a go tightening to stop the leak - is my theory correct?

Identifying name of valve on radiator which is leaking

We have a low pressure problem on our combi boiler and I have identified a small leak (one drop per two mins or so) from the top left sticky-outy bit of the bedroom radiator (the side opposite to the bleed valve). Can anyone tell me what this is called? It looks the same as the bleed value on...

ideal Response 200 boiler low pressure problem

Thanks for those tips! I'll check the blow-off-pipe outside tonight when the heating is on. If it is that - what does it mean? We need a new blow-off-pipe or that something in the boiler is causing the leak?

    Advice on removing a radiator

Never done this before but want to take a radiator off the wall to paint behind it. Issue is that we have a low pressure problem with our boiler and I'm worried that disconnecting a radiator will make this problem worse. Is this the case?

ideal Response 200 boiler low pressure problem

Maybe it's a Response 120 I'd have to check tonight. Either way, can you advise on what we should do?
