    Insulating my garage

Agree that inside average temp will be the same as the outside average temp in the long run, but the idea of the insulation would be to smooth out the peaks and troughs

    Insulating my garage

Hi all, I have a brick built single garage with flat roof attached to my house and accessible via a connecting door. I'd like to partition it and convert 2/3 of it into a space where I can store bikes, bike gear and my turbo trainer. I don't want to heat this space, I just want to make it look...

graded roof batten - does the blue colour fade?

Don't know, but i've seen it a lot on building sites / new build. Sometimes it's red. All I know is that it looks a lot tidier than the ungraded batten in my builder's merchants

graded roof batten - does the blue colour fade?

Morning all, I'm looking to use some 25 x 50 batten as part of a fencing project. I was looking a some graded and ungraded batten this morning and the graded stuff looks much better - smoother finish and less knotty. If I use the graded stuff outdoors will the blue colour eventually fade...

    Metabo random orbital sander

Thanks for that norcon. I eventually got it off - had to buy a nice new, sharp 5mm hex bit and gripped it will a stillson wrench. Still took a bit of effort! After that, i decided I wouldn't tighten it too much when putting the new pad on. Big mistake - after 10 mins of use the pad came...

    Metabo random orbital sander

Afternoon all, I need to change the backing pad on my Metabo random orbital sander (SXE450). I've got the new pad, but I can't shift the bolt to get the old one off! The manual says nothing, except "remove the fixing bolt".... I'm assuming it's a conventional right hand thread - would that...

ah ha newgas, now you're onto something there. That's why I came here - I knew someone but be aware of some obscure fitting that I didn't know about. Many thanks!

soil stack - neat solution needed

srhawksy .... that would be a good solution but I think it's going to be hard to dismantle the branch connector as access is difficult. The upper part of the stack is all boxed in. I'll take a look at that option but I've still got an eye on the saw option! Am I right in thinking that if...

soil stack - neat solution needed

I can't do that unfortunately. It is push fit but just out of the photo to the left is a straight run of pipe to a WC. I'm pretty sure I need to saw it off, I just didn't want to do that without having a vague idea of how to close the hole afterwards

soil stack - neat solution needed

Evening all, I've got a bit of a space problem. I need to run some cooker hood ducting close to a soil stack. There's not much room and there's no other option. The problem is a blanked off waste connector that sticks out a good few inches - see photo. I'm going to need to saw that whole...
