How to Hang a very heavy mirror

Hi, There is no play at all, the mirror is extremely rigid. There is a gap of about 5mm between the inner most pieces of wood, but as said, no play at all! We have a little child so want to make sure it is securely on the wall and cannot be knocked off accidently! Thanks, Nick.

How to Hang a very heavy mirror

I have a very heavy chunky wooden framed mirror I'd like to hang on a plastered brick chimney breast. What would be the best way? It must weight about 30kg. I was thinking anchor bolts. Problem is, there is me recess or hooks or anything on the back of the mirror. My idea was to put 2...

    Porch Problems

Hi, Thanks for the reply. The bricks don't appear to be damp at all to the touch. I can't see the damp course at all so I was guessing that there wasn't any. I thought I would have seen some kind of layer a few bricks up like in houses but no, can't see anything. What should I be...

    Porch Problems

Hi, I have a porch on the front of my house that I wish to decorate, including plastering the walls. Problem is, the bricks are single thickness and I don't think there's any damp proofing. Is this a problem if I'm going to get plasterboards dot and dabbed onto the brick walls? Thanks...

    Slate Hearth on Exposed Floorboards

I've just installed a Slate hearth in readiness for my solid fuel stove going in. I have grouted between the different sections of slate but what do I use to seal the slate to the exposed floorboards? Also, do I grout around the back where the slate meets the brick fireplace or do I use some...

    Solid Fuel Stove help!

I've recently moved into a 1928 3 bed semi. I'd love to put a solid fuel stove in but I'm unsure wether the budget will stretch if I need lots of work done to bring it up to spec. My main problem is that somebody has blocked the chimney flue just above the fireplace with a sheet of 3mm...

    New Rad Knocking

I had some floorboards up before we finished the room and I'm sure they aren't clipped to anything. It's 8mm microbore if that make sa difference to the solution? I'm gutted as I've sanded and varnished the floor, I'm not going to be able to take them up not. It does sound as though...

    New Rad Knocking

I've got my heating engineer coming tomorrow so I'll get him to have a look at the TRV for me. What do you mean by pipes clipped? Clipped to the joists under the floorboards? Thanks for the replies, Nick.

    New Rad Knocking

Hi Andy, You may be onto something there! I didn't put any of the clips onto the brackets! Makes sense if the rad is expanding and contracting! Thanks! Nick.
