Round cedarwood hot tub, pergola, decking & paving 09 pr

That's another year passed by and this was the year to re-oil the deck. I used Ronseal decking oil (natural oak). It works really well as it never flakes, it does fade though and needs to be done every two years or so here in Scotland. Before and after shots below. Before, After...

Next door neighbour..the escalation by mondyman

Life moves on for you and he is stuck with who he is, at least you CAN move on! It can't be easy going through life as an ignorant ar**hole, take solace in the fact that its not you. Good luck in your new home where ever it may be.

    log cabin base

It depends on how hard the ground is at 100mm depth. Its amazing how much a whacker plate compacts down hardcore(learned this on a path project i did in the garden couple of years ago). In saying that i did the very thing you are proposing for my hot tub base and its seeing a load of approx 86...

    Ground Level Hot Tub

I have seen them done with only a small section(maybe a foot) protrudung through the deck. The points that spring to mind immediately are access and egress to the tub. Not everybody will be able to bend their knees stepping down and stay upright. Siting of the pump unit(its level in relation...

I can't believe i took so long to change the motor! Nonetheless, the tub is back up and running again and all the better for the wait. Its been great using it as a soaking tub and heating it up with the Chofu but its hard to beat the jets running and the aerator turbocharging the jets! Here's...

    Hot tub and patio help

When i did my tub foundation it was quite basic. see page 1 of the link. http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1092463#1092463 I think you'll be alright but it will depend on your soil conditions, i take it you dug down till you hit hard ground? Your tub can be calced roughly if you...

Grey grout coloured caulk in the UK?

Hi, I have an apartment in Turkey. The upstairs bathroom has a wooden sloping roof with ye olde worlde type wooden beams going into the tiled walls. Its all very nice looking but the expansion and retraction of the wooden beams over the seasons has caused the grout to crack where it butts up...

    decking stain

Ronseal deck oil is good stuff. Mine has been on for a couple of years and looks great. Go OTT with it as the deck will suck up the excess.

    m12 x 180 galvanized coach bolts

Go for the cheapest of the 2. Your deck will rot out from under your feet before an M12 treated bolt corrodes through! I'm assuming your deck will last 20 years you know..... If you are worried grease the bolts when fitting.

That's 9 months since we completed the tub. Sadly the electric motor running the jets went kaput after a couple of months. Since then i've been using the tub as a soaker and heating from the chofu. Its been great and is still the most chilled out space that i know, if not the most bubbly! I'll...

How to mount kitchen base unit door?

Hi, I am looking to bring our washing machine in from the utility strip in the garage and fit it into a 600mm base unit space in the kitchen. I have measured and the washing machine will fit once the carcass of the 600mm base unit has been removed. The only issue i can see is how to mount...

    am I being ripped off

I think that's a cracking deal. Many tonnes of topsoil and its got to be dumped. I paid £1800 to have 35sqm's done last year and was happy with the price. Machinery involved in the job. 23 tonnes of top soil taken out. Go for it.

How do I clean the green moss of my decking before i oil it?

I'd let a strong (500grms oer gallon) soda crystal solution soak into it to kill the moss then brush it off with a hardbristled brush.
