Yes, downloading Windows is perfectly ok, and I would encourage getting it only from Microsoft's site. If the current PC/laptop already has a valid version of Windows 10, you will be fine as long as you pick the same version (Home, Pro, etc.). You just skip the bit where it asks at the start...

Did you choose the option to "Keep my files" or similar? To be honest, I am not sure what this 'reset' does, but I suspect that it isn't a complete new installation of Windows, in which case it won't really get much better. As another user mentioned, the easiest way is to download Windows 10...

I should add that, when installing Windows 10, you may be prompted to enter a licence number, but, you can skip this step. I cannot remember the wording, and I don't think it makes it obvious, but, trust me, you can!

Hopefully, you got this sorted. Personally, I would suggest the virtual machine route, depending upon the spec of the host laptop and the frequency with which you need to run the software. There are also options to run old software in compatibility mode, but I have never had much luck with that.

This question was posted a few weeks ago, without a response from the poster since the day it was posted. That said, when I 'fix' people's laptops/PC's etc, I generally just reinstall Windows. That takes it back to being better than new, as it gets rid of the usually crappy anti-virus software...

Thanks for that. I think I will cut before assembly, at least the sides. I may just assemble it with parcel tape and put in my desired location, just to get a better idea, before actually doing anything destructive. Thanks guys.

The 'shelf' starts at the pedestal then goes all the way to one corner. The unit is designed to fit under the sink, so, there isn't enough room to lift the whole unit to the same height as the shelf. I think the only option is to cut the back of the unit so that the shelf becomes the support.

That is what I was wondering about, whether to assemble, then cut, or vice-versa. This is the unit I am looking at.
