VIVA Skylo cistern, capillary leak along flush cable to push button mechanism

Thanks Andy, I thought the same, if the button is below the water level in the cistern. However, I have the same cistern upstairs in an en-suite, the button is definitely above the water level in the cistern, it also shows the same deposits (albeit to a lesser extent). Another thing of note is...

VIVA Skylo cistern, capillary leak along flush cable to push button mechanism

Undid the screw and opened the push button mechanism. Can see from the limescale and the wet spot that it seems water travels along the flush cable. Yet to receive a response from the manufacturer...

VIVA Skylo cistern, capillary leak along flush cable to push button mechanism

Most of these issues I come across are pretty easy to identify the root cause, but this one really has me stumped. Per images, seems water is making it's way along the flush cable to the push button mechanism by some form of capillary action. Anyone come across this before or know what could be...

Honeywell ST9400C programmer - component faults or something else

Apologies, late to this party. I have the same heat mark and warm to the touch spot on my ST9400C. This is Deja Vu for me, given my other posts on a Manrose extractor fan circuit, where a resistor is used to bring down the voltage for the timer circuit, then the heat given off by the resistor...

    Event log

So reading further into this, seems the log cannot be cleared (in fact there seems to be some kind of EU rule/regulation that stipulates this). It is probably that it could be used as evidence in a criminal case, hence there is no option for someone to wipe it and in essence destroy evidence...

    Event log

Sorry just to clarify, I mean erase or delete in full the event log, so it can start filling up from zero again.

    Event log

Hi Allen, did you get a reply on this one? I just got the same warning and in the installer manual there are no instructions how to wipe/reset it. If anyone knows if you can do it on RSS maybe, please let me know the steps? Thanks all!

    Resistor hot in bathroom extract

Thanks Ebee, Isolator is already in easy reach and en-suite to the bedroom as below, so switching it on/off is no trouble. My main concern given the scorched PCB and popped capacitor, is longevity of the timer circuit and any (however small) fire risk in the loft from a constantly hot resistor...

    Resistor hot in bathroom extract

Last question on this topic from me hopefully... With the isolator switch on, light is switched on and fan powers on, then light switched off, once the timing capacitor has discharged and the fan comes to a halt (10 mins later in my case) is the resistor still going to be constantly bringing...

    Resistor hot in bathroom extract

So I opted against drilling vents in the casing but there is enough headroom in the casing to locate the replacement 470uf 25v capacitor well away from the hot resistor, even though it is a bit bigger than the original 16v one (also went for Panasonic capacitor over cheapo ones). I also bent the...

    Resistor hot in bathroom extract

Just to add, it is a bit of a catch 22 to vent the electrical compartment, because let's say the thing still did catch fire for whatever reason, the fact the casing had been modded from original spec, likely invalidate my insurance. The fact I had to order the capacitor in a batch of 5, might...

    Resistor hot in bathroom extract

Agree the space the electrics are housed in is confined and unvented, see image below. There is probably no ventilation holes given it is primarily a bathroom extractor and Manrose needed to maintain the IP rating. However, the fan sits in line (in the loft) away from the moisture of the...

    Resistor hot in bathroom extract

Any ideas what temperature this resistor could be possibly be getting up to?

    Resistor hot in bathroom extract

Would be good to know as after I replace the capacitor, could be the next part destroyed (by it's own) heat. At the moment trying to find a place that sells Kapton/Polyimide tape for a reasonable price that is not the "fake" stuff from Amazon/Ebay.

    Resistor hot in bathroom extract

Same board in a Manrose MF100t fan. See the heat mark under the resistor also. The resistor is more robust than the capacitors though, thanks to the Clive YouTube clip, I could see the larger 470uf 16v slightly bulged. Have bought a Panasonic 470uf 25v to replace the 16v one to get a bit more...
