Most of these issues I come across are pretty easy to identify the root cause, but this one really has me stumped. Per images, seems water is making it's way along the flush cable to the push button mechanism by some form of capillary action. Anyone come across this before or know what could be causing it? I've emailed the manufacturer too so will see what response I get.
Many Thanks!

Undid the screw and opened the push button mechanism. Can see from the limescale and the wet spot that it seems water travels along the flush cable. Yet to receive a response from the manufacturer...

The push button is fitted too low, it should of being higher.

Andy
Thanks Andy, I thought the same, if the button is below the water level in the cistern. However, I have the same cistern upstairs in an en-suite, the button is definitely above the water level in the cistern, it also shows the same deposits (albeit to a lesser extent). Another thing of note is there was no weep/seepage for 4 years of operation, only now years later it seems the water is making it's way the full length of the cable. Maybe Viva (silicone) grease the cable and over time and flushing this seal is lost (or there is some other seal that is now gone/worn)? Aside from this just bad design or inherent in cable flushes, possibly pneumatic should be a better option for people considering a concealed push button system.

The main point is Viva make no mention in the fitting instructions that the button can or can't be fitted at any level or location. Seems they need to expand on this, given my cistern was pro fitted, not DIY.

Ok, lets see what the manufacturer has to say but I'm sure they will say it is fitted too low.
