Hello, We have recently moved in and the light was not working in one of the rooms. I have taken off the ceiling rose to fit a new fitting and this is what I have now... I *think* the two reds are a permanent live which need isolating into a block, the black with red tape is a switched live...

@sparkwright Thank you, appreciate it. I'll leave it til next weekend, give it a good sand and clean up and try Ronseal or Johnstones radiator paint. I'm assuming I don't need an undercoat if putting radiator paint onto the sanded previous paint? Excuse my ignorance with DIY
