How to seal a female coupler?

Hey everyone, the coupler is being screwed onto one side of a standard right angled compression elbow (only without the nut and olive on that side). It's just a standard thread like you'd have on any other compression fitting so I dont think tapered. The little disagreement you guys are having...

How to seal a female coupler?

Thanks for all the replies folks. What I'm using for reference (pictured above in first post) is a readily avaliable 'female coupler' part from screwfix, nothing special. It just threw me a bit when there was no rubber washer or olive to 'make the seal'. Is it worth me seating a rubber washer in...

How to seal a female coupler?

Apologies for what's probably a very basic question, but I've just bought a female straight coupler, which has a normal compression fitting on one side, and the other side screws onto a thread. The normal part is fine, compresses an olive. But the 'female' side doesn't have an olive, it just...

Tried to do plumbing but failed

Right ok thanks, so I've put the tape in the wrong place. Lesson learned. Is it going to do any harm it being on the threads or I leave it?

Tried to do plumbing but failed

Thanks for the reply, I've had another reply on another thread saying I should call a plumper because I've use PTFE on the thread and a cheap valve. Can I have some feed back on that please, aren't you supposed to use PTFE tape on the threads? (Fair enough I'm a little messy with it)

Tried to do plumbing but failed

Ok so the shower heat turns itself off when the water pressure drops from someone else turning on a tap, it's a mains fed electric shower. Also thanks for pointint out my spelling error. I'm not having a go here, I'm looking to be educated, what's wrong with a cheap iso valve and using PTFE...

Tried to do plumbing but failed

***** Moderator's note amalgamated two threads ***** I'm trying to fit an electric shower, I thought I'd fit an iso valve to the shower feed which is from the mains. I know this because the shower goes cold every time someone else uses a cold tap which is also from mains. So I turn the main...

How to lower the driver's seat on Toyota Avensis mk1

There's a really obviously answer to this question, twist the 'seat height adjustment' nob. The only thing is on my car all this does is lower the rear part of the horizontal seat (if that makes sense) so you end up with a seat that slopes backwards. Is there any way to lower the whole chair...

What brand car parts for Toyota? Does it really matter?

Hey everyone, So in an ideal world when servicing a car you want to use original parts which would have been made with in the factory it was built in, right? (Or not?) Are there any general brands Toyota tend to work well with or are best to use with this kind of thinking in mind? Or does it...

    Manufacturer Specific Engine Oil?

Interesting you say to enter the REG on eurocarparts cause it recommends the 5w30 tripple QX which says for GM application.

    Manufacturer Specific Engine Oil?

Hey everyone, Basically what's the deal with engine oil now specifying a manufacturer? Eurocarparts have tripple QX oil which now states - for GM application, or VAG or Ford. I know I need 5w30, but do I need engine oil that specifies my car's manufacturer? I'm trying to service my new (old)...
