    Correct use of automatic transmissions

The creeping forward is actually a good thing, when you are on a incline you won't roll back. When you come to a stop just put your foot on the brake and wait, if its going to be a longer wait for some reason then go into park & handbrake on.

How much rewiring each side of meter on fuse upgrade 60 to 100

Who.. is me. I calculate I need this upgrade. Admittedly most of my electrics background is automotive and recently lithium LBs (where it works a bit differently, you only have a finite number of amps to use so you have to work out what your draw Ah is for how long it'll last) but I am...

How much rewiring each side of meter on fuse upgrade 60 to 100

Thank you @Taylortwocities , good to know. I measured the outside of the cable using a Vernier guage so it is like you say, most likely already 25mm2 which is reassuring.

How much rewiring each side of meter on fuse upgrade 60 to 100

Hi, Our bungalow has 60a, will need upgrading to 100 which UK Power networks will do FOC. I have what I measure to be 10mm cable in and out of the meter into fuse board. For anyone who may have experienced (or even had done) the upgrade my Q is, do they (UKP) upgrade to the meter only or also...

    Insulated Piercing Connector

Hi, I am working in a flat at the moment and there's a redundant circuit in there, the old Economy 10 (or 7) The storage heaters are long gone, sockets left in the place of the wall connection box. It makes sense to enable these for daily use and the wires for each (red at top of pic) were...

    Fibreglass roof bond

Hi, I wonder if anyone could help with the right product advice . Our old lead flat gulley roof was leaking so had a fibreglass roof which was told would last. It's a bungalow so easy to access. At the end of the gully it's not flowing away from the building, it slopes back so water sits and...

    Quick AFDD question

thank you to everyone for the replies. makes perfect sense that it would be a nuisance (if it was AFDD on the main 63) , I just hadn't thought it through that way so thank you again.

    Quick AFDD question

It's peace of mind, a step forward, call it what you will but I'd rather have extra protection than less. Yes expensive but I'd never forgive myself if something happened. I've only recently become aware of them but they do seem to polarise opinion but makes no sense. What's negative about...

    Quick AFDD question

Hi, Helpful members recently guided me to AFDD rcbo. Arc Fault Detection Device. Different AFDD on the market, 32a, 10a, 6a and others for the circuits, I'm slowly accumulating but my question is should the main 63A also be an AFDD ? Thank you

Melted plugs any better socket options?

I've now got three 32a to be fitted, buy a couple each month as quite pricey, but should the main breaker fuse also be swapped to afdd i.e should I be looking to buy replacement for that as well. ? My consumer unit (plastic) will be upgraded so I'm going to get everything I need before getting...

Melted plugs any better socket options?

True but reading around it this morning they are a huge step forwards. Mandatory in some circumstances. I intend on having them fitted.

Melted plugs any better socket options?

This scenario terrifies me as it happens so often, plenty of threads on this forum. The cause is normally the same My question, what socket can catch this before melting takes place, more sensitive to the resistance because it's not unheard of for melting to happen but fuse not blow. I've had...

    Roof clean method

Thank you for all the replies. Up until quite recently I wasn't bothered about moss but what I find is it holds the water like a sponge and seems to have gone mad recently, has got out of hand. This is the view from kitchen window of the front room roof.
