French drain and sump pump installation

Yep, I've seem a lot of videos and read a lot about how to do it right, so i am fairly confident that would work. In terms of a sump pump, what would you recommend? Which is a reputable make? I'm thinking that 1/2 horsepower with a 1.5 inch outlet would be plenty for this distance / height...

French drain and sump pump installation

No, we can't do that for the reason you mentioned.. The rain drain thing by the house is at least a foot above that area, plus it's about 25 meter away..

French drain and sump pump installation

Hi, We have a flooding problem in the back of our garden (lawn area). During the wetter months, it floods pretty badly. The area used to have a brook running through it. This has been filled in. Neighbours have tried soakaways without success. My own property has a sump pump already...

DHW heat exchanger Worcester bosch 37 CDI - please help!:(

The thing is almost touching a pipe (that runs horizontally across the whole H.E). I guess that's a preferred method then.. but am i right about the formal instructions in the service manual? they appear to say that the thing in front should be taken off in which case it would pop out.

DHW heat exchanger Worcester bosch 37 CDI - please help!:(

Hi all. For a while now our boiler has been overheating and turning off (water goes cold) and then comes back on. Very annoying. Wifes gone mad. Technician has confirmed that the DHW is dirty and needs replacing. I've bought a new one but he cant change it, saying that he needs space to...

    Stove register plate

Well, it does not look like it'll be very easy to inspect above it. If work needs doing, it's removal well be hard and dirty and there's no inspection hatch in it as I've seen on some steel ones.

    Stove register plate

Recently had a stove fitted. I was expecting that the register plate would be made of metal and made to measure. Surprised to see that it's made of some kind of board. "Hardbacker"? And it hasn't been plastered over. It's it fair to even call this a register plate? Any experts here able...

Moving the main fuse / meter

It's where my WIFE wants the kitchen sink! Not to the left, or the right, or the wall opposite -- RIGHT THERE. I should get her to move it.

Moving the main fuse / meter

I am 100% sure the person I spoke with was wrong on some of his facts, but did seem reasonable. He suggested I pay and then discuss with the surveyor. The only point of me coming here is to be prepared. In particular it seems illogical for me to have to foot the bill for them replacing the...

Moving the main fuse / meter

I think I will do that. Just wondering if my position would be reasonable: a) I should pay for creating the elbow where the main line 'hits' my house and to put the meter there. b) I should not have to pay for the replacement of the entire line all the way to the street. If they have a...

Moving the main fuse / meter

Thanks man. House is old. I don't know about the cable. Nobody came to visit / survey. All estimates etc were done by email. They are also now saying i should just pay them, then they will send a surveyor, and If i am not happy i can get a refund!

Moving the main fuse / meter

Thanks. It made no sense - so thanks for confirming. I guess the next time they tell me that, I will ask THEM to point me at the law / ofgem policy. So if it's an internal policy, would it be reasonable for them to pay for this? So you are saying the problem is that the joint cannot be...
