There are at least 10 penetration points to be addressed and when we move in I am digging and installing a French Drain to stop the ground water from reaching the building. The ground slopes towards us unfortunately.

No not a worry here. Had a very serious survey by a historic buildings expert. We think it was applied to "cure" the damp problem which is actually ingress from above. The builder starts on the roof tomorrow.

WE have had our property surveyed and it has been suggested that the exterior coating might be this product "Kenitex" or similar.
We are contemplating using a vibrating tool of some sort to remove this as it is (we are told) a type of plastic and quite unsuitable for a field stone construction...
Just bought an elderly cottage which someone has painted with a plastic type paint. It seems to be "chipable" if that is a word and I am hoping that an air powered chisel will take it off. Yes slow but I am retiring so will have time.
