    Skirting board on stairs

Hi, I'm renovating a small house and have added insulation to all the walls for soundproofing and better thermal performance. The stair wall now sticks out as much as the existing skirting board (when I plasterboarded it I profiled it to the skirting). It looks like this - any idea of how best...

Not amazing finish, what can I do?

Thanks - so conclusion is sanding over plastering is a good idea? What exactly is meant by a 3m scratch pad, the round pads on an orbital sander? Any idea about grit?

Not amazing finish, what can I do?

Thanks - I asked the plasterer if there was anything to be done about those bits but he seemed to assume I needed to sand them down and it was normal. Not very happy and wouldn’t have him again but he’s finished now and if the downstairs has a similar level of mistakes to upstairs when I inspect...

Not amazing plastering, what can I do?

Those were what I found upstairs (bedroom, bathroom and landing) so half the house (very small house)!

Not amazing plastering, what can I do?

Hi guys, here are the pics - some 'snot' and some trowel marks from the upstairs. The rest looks okay though.

Hi all, this is from upstairs - some 'snot' and some trowel marks. Most of the plastering looks okay though.

Not amazing plastering, what can I do?

Hi all, I got a plasterer in recommended by a friend. He wasn't the most expensive but also not cheap (3.5k for about 7-8 days work on a one bed with his workmate, South London). I went to have a look today and he said they'd finished the upstairs. I'm not sure what to expect as this is my...

Replacing shower door and frame parts

Thanks! Yes the rubber seals around the door itself are easy to replace but the metal frame is the issue I'm having - the studio owners seem to have done things on the cheap and I'm pretty sure the bathroom fan isn't functioning properly because everything is mouldy/rusted including these parts...

Replacing shower door and frame parts

Hi all, I do maintenance for a yoga studio and I've been asked if I can replace the metal parts around the shower enclosure door and frame that holds the door. Here is a photo - Any idea how I go about getting parts that will fit and fitting them pls? Sorry this isn't really a plumbing...

How much should this job be?

I asked the company who did the asbestos survey of the house about a year ago and then it was slightly over 3k for the whole house. Probably more now, and definitely something I'd want done properly or not at all. I am concerned about it reducing the house's value - I didn't intent to do this...

How much should this job be?

Hi all, I bought a doer upper in zone 3 SW London, one bed house, 45 sq metres. It has artex ceilings everywhere which I had tested for asbestos and they contain Chrysotile. I’ve been doing everything myself in the renovation except gas plumbing, electrics and roof repairs and now need a...

How to attach a batten to a metal lintel

Hi all, I'm battening all the inside (block) walls of my 80s house so I can insulate them and plasterboard over. There's what I think is a metal lintel over the windows and front door which I think I need to attach horizontal battens to in order to frame the windows so the plasterboard doesn't...

    Is this battening sufficient

Ah thanks - I've now put battens top and bottom and am working on a third way up and two-thirds of the way up.
