There was one installed on my house that has been there since 1989 and still works fine and I'll be buying their latest system shortly. The PIR's are very good and the only ones I can find for external use
I double checked the wires I installed and i have two 6 core cables one of which is for a GJD lighting controller and one for the alarm so i'm good to go.
I vaguely remember looking at another system which was analogue and the only way to use the single cable was to run a few sensor in series...
So I can install the expander and wire in the PIR's and then assign certain sensors to an area and the main panel knows what's going on ?
I guess there is some digital message being sent rather than just a voltage pulse
I'll only be running 4 internal PIR motion detectors on the expander and maybe a couple of external PIR's for the yard but I don't know whether I can zone off the externals just to chime on the panel. Depends on how it sends signals to the main box ?
Thanks for reply
Is that 4 x individual wires or 4 x 6 cores ?
I was told by Texecom that at long distances I may need the powered expanders
I'm not a complete novice when it comes to wiring and sensors but have no experience with alarms
Thanks
Hello
I'm about to purchase an alarm which will probably be a Texecom Premier Elite 48 and then a zone expander in the outbuildings which are 50m away.
I previously installed some underground cables from the house to the outbuildings for phone , Cat5 and a couple of 6 core alarm cables so my...
Got a Rayburn 480 K here that's been in and working well a few years and apart from a couple of pump drives failing and the cooker stat it's been OK. The repair man I use is retiring soon and isn't keen on delving into it anymore but it has developed another problem with tripping out so I'll ask...
Thanks for the reply.
Those sensors look pretty high tech and probably a bit much for what I require-basically a chime alarm to pick up anyone snooping around in the dark. I might try a regular internal sensor in a sheltered spot and hope the damp air doesn't cause problems or failure
Hello
Just getting around to wiring in my alarm system and have a couple of Q's for the experts.
I have a Scantronic 9448+ and I want to hook up an external PIR to one of the zones to operate the chime facility-I know about the standalone PIR/Chime devices but the distance and buildings in...
Uhm
I'm not sure whats going on with this bypass as previously the system had a massive radiator fitted in the kitchen as heat soak which was removed by mistake when the cylinder and pipes were moved-hot water has always worked OK even with this
The heatsink was my only concern but I figured that if the fan wasn't on( room stat control) then heatsink would be minimal. My system does have a bypass valve already but the pump still groans when the MZV closes and if I adjust the valve too much then no hot water
Contemplating fitting a plinth radiator in the kitchen are they any good?
Does the fan switch on automatically when it sees heat?
Can the fan be linked to a room stat to switch off the fan ?
I have 2 zones using a simple manifold but I may need to add separate control to reduce the temp in one room as I don't use it that much. The main living room zone runs off the ch room stat along with the rads which are TRV'd
