Completion cert for plumbing changes (Scot)

In Scotland, so those rules apply. We’re in the process of renovating the bathroom, contractors are in currently. This involves shifting the basin and toilet, bath over shower becomes a standalone shower, and a new bath. There’s some new internal plumbing for that, and for the toilet a new...

    Unvented system pressure

I think I'm right in saying that the dial won't move until the system is full, at which point it pretty quickly moves as it equalises with mains pressure.

    resealing a leaking sink...

No doubt. I’m just dubious about getting a good seal in there when there’s not much space, I can’t see it properly, and the worktop and sink are out of line due to the swelling. I’m possibly overthinking it though.

    resealing a leaking sink...

There’s not a lot to see as the swelling isn’t obvious in a photo. Not sure if that chip was where the problem started, but the comes and goes for maybe ten inches along the back. There’s only an inch of worktop between sink and wall.

    resealing a leaking sink...

Suspect I'm on a loser with this one. I've got a kitchen sink where the sealant looks to have failed at the back (the side that's to the wall) and the worktop is swelling. It's due for replacement anyway, but in a year or two, and I'd rather not have folk in doing work at the moment. Given...

Boiler heat exchanger leaking - how urgent?

Rads are working fantastically, when the pressure's up. Will add some inhibitor via the Magnaclean filter. Many thanks.

Boiler heat exchanger leaking - how urgent?

Water's not black when bleeding radiators. There's a magnetic filter on the system which wasn't unusually clogged up, for what that's worth.

Boiler heat exchanger leaking - how urgent?

That's something I hadn't thought of. Anyway, Worcester Bosch fixed-price repair booked for tomorrow - the £275 charge was much less than anticipated. What else do I need to think of? Inhibitor? Flush?

Boiler heat exchanger leaking - how urgent?

I'm helping someone sort out problems with their boiler. Basically 1) Losing pressure in a day or two. 2) Engineer, based on what he found in condensate trap, diagnosed leak in the heat exchanger That seems right, no argument with the diagnosis. My question is: How urgent a problem is this...

    Heated towel rail valves...

Cheers. Was looking for a draincock, I guess everything started to look like one...

    Heated towel rail valves...

I have a heated towel rail in my bathroom. There's no "normal" valve, but there's an exposed screw on top. Bleed valve? At the bottom there are two... don't know what they are. My assumption would be a drain valve, but they don't look like drain valves I've seen before. They don't turn. I'm...

    My first wall-painting experience

So, just moved into a new flat and while I've had professionals in to do some stuff I wanted done in a hurry, I'm now taking my time over some less urgent things. I'm a complete novice to this, so be gentle. Or rough, if I need it. First project - sort out this feature wall in the lounge...
