    Oak mantlepiece

I was planning to use Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C to stain it... https://www.rubiomonocoat.co.uk/products/oil-plus-2c?variant=43644956442666

    Oak mantlepiece

Its prob not the best piece of oak i agree but i think for what i want its fine, i wanted a more aged look, i plan to round of the edges a bit, sand it down and stain it a bit darker with some oil stain...i originally bought a reclaimed, finished oak mantlepiece, made from an old barn beam, and...

    Oak mantlepiece

According to chatgpt this is whats used in Italy so will see if can find some...also saw another thread where they recommended drilling into the back of the mantlepiece in the top 1/4 of its height to help prevent it tipping away from wall.

    Oak mantlepiece

Yes that would be easier if i tile after...i will keep it in mind, at moment im thinking of going over tiles but if that changes then this would be a good approach. Thanks

    Oak mantlepiece

Thanks both, thats good info, i see some companies supply beams with hangers on the back like a picture hook to hang on screws in the wall, but im a bit worried that wont be strong enough...so drilling a bar in sounds better...getting it squarely drilled will prob be a challenge but i guess...

    Internal Durgo

There is a fall on it but not really obvious from picture, I agree though it's not great. Using a junction might work, prob a daft question but would some waste flow into that part of the pipe and become trapped or would the junction be reversed to help prevent that?

    Internal Durgo

No, it's a bit of a dog leg there, I thought inspector would ask for it to be changed but seemed okay with it...the valve was apparantly because the run looked quite long, its about 4.5m and so he thought durgo should be put in...it messes up my internal layout a bit though

    Internal Durgo

Hi, these are some pics of inside and out, pipe coming in is next to toilet Thanks

    Internal Durgo

Thanks for your reply, the toilet backs onto the wall and the soil pipe exits out the back through the wall and then runs for about 5m along the external side to the soil pipe. I guess I could move the toilet location rather than trying to pack it all in behind...the building inspector seemed to...

    Internal Durgo

I am adding ensuite and building inspector has asked for durgo valve to be fitted internally to toilet soil pipe as length of run is around 5m. The toilet sits against wall and pipe directly exits the back of house and then runs 5m horizontally across to soil stack. What is best way to connect...
