They are coming back to do another shower upstairs which will also have niches so i will point it out to them...im worried they will make a bigger mess if try to change now...the trim doesnt meet and i assume has burn marks from an angle grinder as you say...i did think about sanding the edge...

No they are tilers and the rest all looks fine...i think maybe the apprentice did this bit...i will add some trim as you suggested, thanks

I had two niches added in shower while renovating it and the tiling looks great everywhere except for round the edges of the niche. Whys it like this and whats best fix?

Just been round there...they agreed to change it (and another i spotted which was laid side by side)... yeh prob is me being a bit OTT, but i know i would see it every time i walk in the door and regret not asking.

According to chatgpt this is whats used in Italy so will see if can find some...also saw another thread where they recommended drilling into the back of the mantlepiece in the top 1/4 of its height to help prevent it tipping away from wall.

Yes that would be easier if i tile after...i will keep it in mind, at moment im thinking of going over tiles but if that changes then this would be a good approach. Thanks

Thanks both, thats good info, i see some companies supply beams with hangers on the back like a picture hook to hang on screws in the wall, but im a bit worried that wont be strong enough...so drilling a bar in sounds better...getting it squarely drilled will prob be a challenge but i guess...

Got this planed piece of oak to make a mantlepiece 140cm x 16cm x 16cm...its very heavy i guess as is not dried out...not sure of how it was processed as i bought it online...would appreciate any advice on how to best go about treating it, and then securing on wall...the chimney breast its going...

There is a fall on it but not really obvious from picture, I agree though it's not great. Using a junction might work, prob a daft question but would some waste flow into that part of the pipe and become trapped or would the junction be reversed to help prevent that?
