Hi rocky. The switch is just a "normal" on/off switch, not a dimmer.

Actually, thinking about it, maybe I have nailed it. The light is positioned directly under my youngest son's bedroom. He often moves around (jumps, generally bounces around - he is 8) and the light fitting does vibrate when he does this. Our old one did it too, but it had the small halogen...

    NEXT Lighting Problems...

Right. Update time. Took me about a fortnight to gee myself up to go & buy some bulbs. I came home with some halogen globe bulbs from B&Q, a named brand but I can't remember what the name is. I couldn't find Osram or Philips locally would you believe! Removed the lamp unit from the...

    Webcam Recording...

Hmmm...Difficult one this. I suspect my other half of being a bit naughty with a workmate. I know she chats with him online via F******* and sometimes things do get a bit close to the bone. What I have discovered is that they sometimes videocall via F******* chat. I am not really...

    ACER Charging Issue

Hi. Have a strange fault with my 9 months old Acer Aspire. I normally use it plugged into the mains. It has over the last couple of months developed an odd fault. Basically, if you unplug the laptop from the mains & use it on battery power, when you try & re-charge it, it charges...

    NEXT Lighting Problems...

Thanks RF Lighting, Will give that a try. Any idea as to why all 5 of the old ones burst at once? Also is it normal that a new bulb (generic own-brand) would have a hole in the side of the screw-in part which looks like it has been melted?

    NEXT Lighting Problems...

Haha that's kinda what I thought deep down too, zero electrical knowledge breeds b******s theories! To answer your question, no - all the lights appear to be working as normal, although I do have 1 bulb blown in my kitchen which has been out for a few days, haven't gotten around to replacing...

    NEXT Lighting Problems...

Hi prenticeboyofderry, Nothing blew other than the light. I haven't replaced the bulbs as yet (truth be told electricity scares me a bit & I don't want to risk further damage) as where the bulb screws into the bulb holder is slightly melted & doesn't look like a "normal" blown bulb...
