    Roof repairs from inside?

All fair points and your comments much appreciated. The place is 250 miles away and there's a limit to what I can diagnose from these lousy photos I took. I need to make that trip again soon. But at least you didn't laugh me out of the forum at the idea that certain roof timber repairs are...

    Roof repairs from inside?

Good diagram, Freddiemercurys twin, but as u know in reality older places can be a dogs dinner version, as is the one in question. Not even sure if the vertical timbers are doing anything - maybe someone planned to line out a room and they were simply there to take the plasterboard. one of the...

    Roof repairs from inside?

Morning all. Have a roof with a few timbers needing replacing due to historic woodworm (this will get treated too). The actual slates outside are 100% fine, and no signs sagging or distortion outside. Won't need insulation as this is being done separately to joists below. So my question to...

Resurfacing naff stained wood veneer doors

Yes, I removed the glued on mouldings. You have understood what I'm trying to do, wanting to get a smooth modern painted surface to these doors. It certainly does look awful no matter how much I fill and sand where the glue was. You are definitely on the right tracks with the iron-on veneer...

Resurfacing naff stained wood veneer doors

Hi, I'm trying to turn a lot of dark stained wood veneer internal doors into plain surfaced ones. The problem is when I take off the fancy decorative beading/moulding, no matter how much I fill and sand, the marks where the beading was still show through. Anyone know of a product like a...

    Single or 3 phase?

Dont know if you can see my pictures, but the big wide switch marked 'geral' in Portuguese is maybe what you are describing and if so, I'm wondering if thats the sign of 3 phase on a breaker panel.... thanks anyway!

    Single or 3 phase?

I'm not an electrician, wouldnt unscrew panel (not mine) so wouldnt even know where to look for main supply coming in. As you say, the simplest would be able to tell from the size of the main breaker. I would really like to be able to distinguish in future between single phase breakers and the...

    Single or 3 phase?

Hi, how can you tell from looking at the breaker panel (see pics) whether a house has single or 3 phase? these pictures taken in Portugal, but the panel is general EU one eg Spain, etc. also. Thanks.

    No trickle vents

Thanks Nick, I completely agree, but I just needed to know if trickle vents are a Building Regs requirement. I had upvc windows installed without them and the room is now as you'd expect from lack of ventilation.
