  • thanks for prompt reply ,yes its 01 on the read out i fitted the unit in late 2000 so i would assume early unit however when filling with salt the cabinet never contained water, what granules were left were damp but not soaked. what happened was that i suspected the mains plug had possibly been dislodged so i made sure it was in. I looked at the readout which was 01 ithen pushed the up button to 05 as i was not sure at the time of the clarke value i then pushed the droplet button and the unit did a recharge, after obtaining clarke value [24.3] i went to reset unit but the up down or recharge buttons do nothing just sits at 01, pcb and ribbon cables look good, could it be a prossesor failure?
    Hi Sams66
I am very confudsed by your display readings. Are you sure they are correct? There are two versions of the software for the MC250 Water Softener;- the early version were water is always present in the salt cabinet, allowing the salt to soak' during use, and the later version where the salt cabinet is left dry during normal 'service' use then filled with water and allowed to soak for 20 minutes at the start of the next regeneration. Which do you have?
Neither software displays the figures 01 you have detailed! The old version displays r0 (briefly); r1; r3 (briefly); r4; r5 and r6, which all indicate various set points in the cycle with, additionaly, the two fault codes:-'AC', when mains supply is lost and 'E2', when there is a disc reading error (normaly due to the optical sensor being incorrectly fitted or the leads on the small pcb having corroded through. The later software displays r2 during the 30 minute salt soak, but not r3.
If the reading is r1 (not 01) then this indicates, on both versions, that the salt tank should be filling. The reading should remain for 11 minutes as the tank fills. The swirling digits indicate that the turbine and associated hall sensor, pluged in on left side of valve, are working fine and measuring flow of softened water. If display is showing 01 then I have never met it and assume this must be a fault on the pcb within the control unit. I have never had a fault on the CU. I have lots of information, but no website to display it. Let me know which version of software and I will try to help guide you through the operation if 01 is infact r1

additional to last statement system reads 01 cannot manual recharge buttons do nothing, shows swerl when water flows, goes to r0 and motor etc runs if switched of for 5mins,then on again then reverts to 01 any ideas?
