Sorry, I think we might have been at cross purposes. I think I have found the cause of the leak though. There is damage on the o-ring. Will replace tomorrow, and tighten gently this time

Hi, yes that is how the plumber left it. I think I applied PTFE in the correct rotation, i used 7 turns. The nut attaches from the top to the thread which is on the bottom when fitted. The leak is coming from the top the nut.

thanks, I wondered if that might be the case. I did not spot the o-rings originally, so did tighten quite a lot, will get new ones tomorrow. The leak is from above where is threads in the rad

Thanks Gazman I could not feel any fixings from underneath. I think the hinges are riveted as well, as I cannot see any visible screws. New windows sound the way to go perhaps

Yes here is a picture, of one that snapped of anyhow. I suppose they could be pot riveted

Yes that correct there are now screws visible, when the handle is off. thanks for all your help by the way

Hi Yes the handle is fixed to a plate with a grub screw which is attached somehow to the aluminium of the window. There are no visible screws so I am not quite sure how it is attached. As you say I suspect I may have to drill fixing holes, so perhaps not an easy straight replacement after...
