Fexible tap tail 10mm x 1/2 BSP. Why so hard to find?

Are you saying that the tap tails that usually come with taps are 1/2 BSP suitable for flat face connectors? If so you would think there would be spares available, just in case the dog chewed one (or whatever). I checked out a tap from Screwfix (item 5497T). And yes it says that it is supplied...

Fexible tap tail 10mm x 1/2 BSP. Why so hard to find?

I spotted the B&Q one, its a bit long it would be all tangled. The Amazon one I didn't see. But I would still like to know why they aren't sold in conventional outlets of plumbing equipment.

Fexible tap tail 10mm x 1/2 BSP. Why so hard to find?

I bought a new tap, it accepts a 10mm tap tail. I got the tap second-hand but it has never been fitted. The tails with it are copper tube and also there are tails with a plastic speedfit-like system. I want to have a plumber come and fit isolation valves under the sink on the tap feeds. I have...

Use of isolation valves. Is flexi-hose okay for mains pressure.

Hi, I am looking to get a new kitchen sink and tap fitted. I’ve started to think that maybe I will deal with the worktop myself and get a plumber in to do something with the water before I start on the worktop and sink. My system has a cold water tank in the roof and a hot water tank which is...

Moving some pipework in meter cupboard

Hi, I have an appointment to have a smartmeter fitted, but I think that my meter cupboard is too congested. Is this something that can be sorted by a local gas fitter, or are Scottish gas going to charge me a captive customer fee? If so, what might they charge? This is some info which AI dug...

The bit between worktop and wall - in a kitchen

The worktop will be either wood effect laminate or light grey speckled laminate. But the kitchen is full of mis-matching stuff and clutter. More of of a nightmare kitchen than a dream kitchen. My wife and I are of the opinion that it is a workroom not a fashion statement.

Fitting an electric hob to the space vacated when a gas hob was removed.

Do newer hobs always have clamp on all four sides? Many (all?) of them seem to have a speedfit system?

The bit between worktop and wall - in a kitchen

Thank you. I already have jigsaw with the old type of blade fitting (u-fitting) but would maybe buy a better saw to get a better selection of blades.

The bit between worktop and wall - in a kitchen

Too expensive. Plus there are tiles on the wall with pictures of bowls of fruit which would be cut in half because the upstand goes higher up the wall.

The gap is too big for that. Unless I put on two more layers of tiles....

Remove paint from tap 40 year old tap.

Hi, I have a mixer tap in my kitchen which was white when it was new. Some of the paint has worn away exposing brass. So my idea is to remove all the white paint and I am wondering about the best way to do that. I gave it a wipe with fine steel wool soaked in white spirit, and also tried...

The bit between worktop and wall - in a kitchen

Not so easy to find a matching worktop at the right price. Plus it is a long cut to do without proper tools. I will be buying a jigsaw and downcut blades to do the sink cut-out. I have to put something between the wall and the worktop anyway. I can also get quarter round quadrant 17mm deep...

The bit between worktop and wall - in a kitchen

Hi, I am looking to replace a worktop in a kitchen. There will be a sink in the worktop. Washing machine and dishwasher underneath so a little bit of heat. No cooker or oven involved they are on a different wall. The existing worktop is 61cm deep. I have found a suitable worktop but it is...

Fitting an electric hob to the space vacated when a gas hob was removed.

I think the graphic seems to be saying that there is only one clamp. I haven't bought it yet so I can't check. In effect probably means that I have to change the worktop when changing from gas to electric? Unless I can: find an electric cooker with a more old fashioned way to fit it in...

New RCD needed - probable cost.

Yes that sounds like it. Sorry I have been using terms that I don't understand. From a users point of view the idea is that if the cooker circuit blows something it won't be the fuse (which is near impossible to get out and hard to fix), it will just trip out a little switch which can be flipped...
