Gas meters in communal areas - flats

Thank you for your help everyone. Going to get the gas transporter to move the ECV's to outside of the under stairs cupboard - in recessed meter boxes. Re precautions: I'll make sure the gas fitter is aware that there will be additional requirements to meet. Hopefully it will look a bit...

Gas meters in communal areas - flats

It's Semi detached & yes to all questions. That's a good idea - the other-side of the under stairs cupboard is a public road (no pavement) however I could install recessed meter boxes. So I will need to contact the gas transporter to move the ECV's to these meter boxes, then the supplier to...

Gas meters in communal areas - flats

Sorry was keeping it short and sweet. It's an existing block of 3 flats (3 floors) - quite a new conversion so meets the latest building regs i.e. compartmentation/lobbies/fire doors etc but with only one escape route/stair. No gas previously, now has the ECV's and pipes but no meters. Using...

Thought so. Thanks for the advice. I'll see if they're going to charge me for moving it.

Gas meters in communal areas - flats

The gas transporter did carry out a survey before and didn't mention any problems. However there is a clause in the quote saying that it's been assumed the design meets all the latest standards but I'm hoping they will accept the costs if it needs to be altered. It would be better for everyone...

Gas meters in communal areas - flats

Recently got new gas connections for a block of flats but I'm having some problems getting the meters installed. The meter location is under the stairs protected by a FD30 fire door/fire boarding but have been told by the meter installer that the meters cannot be installed there as the...

    Oversizing a Stopcock

Hello, Getting a new 25mm MDPE supply. Been told the stopcock can be a bottleneck. Is it worth getting a MDPE 25mm to 22mm stopcock then reducing to 15mm straight after Or just a 25mm to 15mm stopcock? Is the valve the same size in both taps? Thanks

    24kw or 30kw boiler for a flat

Thank you for your replies. I did get one quote but think the price was increased due to the building not being ready - therefore I was waiting before getting further quotes and asking these questions. When I asked about the gas pipe size/boiler he said some of it will have to be 28mm reducing...

    24kw or 30kw boiler for a flat

Hello, Sorry I'm unsure how to work out the heating load - unless its the total BTU of the radiators? However the walls are insulated, as well as the floor and the roof of the flats adjacent. From an online calculator - BTU of all the radiators (3 + towel rail) is about 15,000 BTU. Seems like...

    24kw or 30kw boiler for a flat

Hello, I got a neighbour (in another building) to allow me to test his flow rate/pressure. Worked out 15.6 l/min @ 0.5 Bar at my boiler height (took off 0.5bar for an 5m increase in height). Static pressure 3.7 Bar. His is an old 15mm copper supply pipe though so I'm not sure if the new 25mm...

    24kw or 30kw boiler for a flat

Hello, Thank you for the reply. Yes they are combination boilers and the flow rates are 9.8 l/min for 24kW and 11.8 l/min for 30kW @Delta 35c. The new water supply for the flat has not been installed yet so I cannot tell you flow rate/pressure of the supply, but it will all be new pipework...

    24kw or 30kw boiler for a flat

Hello, I'm not sure whether to get a 24kW or 30kW combi boiler for a flat (only £10 difference) The 30kW boiler would only just be OK for the size of gas pipe that can fit in the building - if I've worked it out correctly. Please can someone advise on getting a 24kW boiler in a small 2 bed...
