Is there not fast setting grout which a lot of tradesmen would use to avoid having to extend the job over 2 days?
One of the tilers I spoke to said he uses Bal grout which is used in swimming pools apparently. Although quick search seems to suggest a 24 cure time for this. Would this mean you'd...
That's what I was worried about!
And how can you silicone around fresh grout?
At some point they need to meet and surely the silicone won't stick to the grout.
Although in saying that, a few of the other tilers I spoke to also seemed to suggest grouting and silicone the same day.
Not sure if...
How long would it take a Tiler to properly regrout (remove old grout and reapply new grout), as well as remove old silicone and re-silicone within a moderately sized shower enclosure, approx 118cm L x 90cm W x 220 cm H?
Pictures also attached.
If only a few of the tiles show hairline cracks...
The instal company is called SMS and my provider is Outfox The Market.
I can certainly ask about them fitting an isolator if I go ahead with the meter replacement.
That could be one benefit, although I've has no issues with my electricity or meter since the last meter was installed 9 years ago.
If its not RTS, I'm wondering if I should just keep the meter I have.
I sometimes change energy provider for better deals and if its like it was before, changing provider might stop the automatic start meter readings from working.
Are there any real benefits of switching out my meter at this stage?
Thanks for everyone's replies. Really helpful and reassuring to know that I won't be impacted by the RTS switch off and can just get a single phase installer out to fit a new smart meter, but no rush anyway.
Is it possible it was previously a 3 phase meter, explaining why my energy provider has...
Yeah I got an email saying I need to do it, but not sure if it is even an RTS meter like the energy company thinks it is.
Given it sounds like they are also wrong about it being 3 phase.
Do they actually switch off electricity supply on that date or just the meter reading technology part?
Thanks for clarifying. Is it something I should probably be requesting or insisting they fix when fitting a new meter?
Not sure if they would deal with this for the purposes of switching out the meter.
Probably also depends how big a job it is to fix?
Can you tell if its an RTS meter as well as...
I think it must be underground, at least close to our house as there are no obvious overhead cables.
Does this make much difference in terms of the questions on RTS and 3 phase?
The other reply suggests it is single phase.
Can anyone please confirm if this electricity meter looks like it is RTS and 3 phase?
Photos attached.
My energy provider seems to think it is based on their records and that I need it replaced with a smart meter before the RTS switch off on 30th June 2025.
The problem is there is apparently a...
Thank Andy.
Do you think I should ask them to keep the wooden posts on the wall after they are finished, or maybe try to keep the screws they've put in on the wall to avoid damaging the brickwork?
EDIT: just took a closer look and it looks like they've used at least 2 screws per wooden post so...
Thanks for you reply.
I'm not sure either, but aside from the holes could the way they've set it up potentially put too much force on the wall and risk damaging it, especially structurally?
Neighbours are getting work done to their gutters and roof, but the scaffolders have drilled 2 small bits of wood into out brick wall to support this.
The ground is softer on the side closest to our wall too.
Does this look like it could cause damage to our wall and, is so, how bad could it...
