    reputable roofer

I agree with this, picking a local tradesman is just as good as taking advice from someone who is anonymous on the web. Get 3 quotes, meet them in person, and always ask if they will give references of recent work, which you could follow up on.

water leaking through new opening in cavity wall?

Catlad thanks for all your responses, I thought it should but I don't know enough about these things. I had presumed because the tiles interlocked and overlapped, this would be enough for rain to hit the roof and run off. House was built in the 1970 so presume it has always been like that.

water leaking through new opening in cavity wall?

I think I'll get a proper roofing company out. I'm not as convinced as the builder that it's just water transfer through the brick. Questions should the top of the wall cavity be covered with a membrane like the rest of the roof? Or is it normal to be able to see into the cavity by lifting a...

water leaking through new opening in cavity wall?

While I have no doubt that water is penetrating the outer skin, this has never shown before and we have had the new opening for over 6 months now, i'm concerned as to why now and not before? I have removed the internal window cill so I can see into the cavity, and while there is signs of...

water leaking through new opening in cavity wall?

No there is nothing sticking above window. Builder actually came out Boxing Day and re cemented some of the ridge tiles and filled holes in the pointing as the weather forecast was bad. This has made no difference. Looking in the loft is all dry. He is convinced because of the...

Don't think so, not a 100% what you mean though. Needless to say, today's weather has brought more water coming through.

Cost of completely replacing flat roof

We paid £85 per metre all in for a new warm deck roof, with 126mm insulation, and mechanically fixed single ply membrane, and all metal flashing. That's in the west country.

water leaking through new opening in cavity wall?

Had the roof people out, fully check all the flashing and seems all is water tight, however the state of the mortar on the end wall is in a state of disrepair, there is a lot of damp crumbling mortar, lots missing, and generally in a bad state. Is it fair to state that because of this the...

water leaking through new opening in cavity wall?

I did read about them after a quick google search, but they seem geared towards condensation, this appears to be to much water, it must be getting in somewhere, I know bricked absorb water but really that much? Worth noting we have had heavy rain on many occasions since the work but this has...

water leaking through new opening in cavity wall?

6 months ago we converted the garage into a utility and study, we had two steel rsj installed, to create an opening in the cavity wall. All inspected and signed off by B\C This evening we noticed water dripping in through the plaster which covers the rsj and cavity, never happened before...

Ok thanks. Is there anything I can do to reverse it. Or am going to have to do something with the door frames to square them again?
