hardly scientific but is there access to push the blockage back the way it came or create a corkscrew from a hangar to be wound into 'mass' then to pull back and break it up (this worked for me in a sewar where the blockage was wedged on a joint.

A 'flue may be perforated' so could therefore need replacing, I know this is hardly scientific but it is very clean and shiny outside and only...

I know thats the obvious one but Its cost me 90 quid so far and he quoted 1200 for a new flue plus reconnection which seems outrageous.
he was corgi registered - I say was cos I just reported him back to corgi!
so he wont be back on my turf!

The engineer has just left having 'serviced' and then capped off my baxi back boiler cos it dont conform!!! (we're new to the area so had to go for broke with the phone book)
it was doing fine but the pilot had a yellowing tip and went out...

the system is as balanced today as it was last winter .....
Ive just run the system for another 'extra hour' and there was no noise / air / cold spots, perfect really...
I'll re test it tomorrow morning on timer 'cos i'm guessing it'll do it then, as it did this...
clarrification:
one rad has TRV on the 'out' end, is single direction and has an arrow on it in the correct dirrection
seccond rad is the downstairs 'bypass' rad so doesnt have trv!
system: baxi back boiler, old but well serviced and no apparent faults.
all following work done / fitted 12-18 months ago:
replaced all rads along with most of the 15mm pipework. new header tank and immersion / heat transfer tank fitted. system flushed several times and has run for 12 months...
