Loft insulation away from electrical cables

Thanks for the reply. I think the total load is 300W and not energy saving. It is the white (red/black) cable from the 90s and lighting only The insulation depth will be 300-325mm

Loft insulation away from electrical cables

Hi, i am installing some loft insulation on top of the old vermiculite in between the rafters up in the loft. I know the instructions tell me to move electrical cable above the new insulation but this is not really possible as a. many cables are clipped to the sites of the rafters (other...

Possible to use existing (CF) Flue for new Boiler

Hi everyone I have an old Myson Apollo wall-mounted boiler which is nearing the end of its life and I don't want to trust it for another (never ending) winter! Its air source is the kitchen itself with vents in the door. My question is if it is possible to replace with a new Boiler that...

    Loft Insulation width

thanks for the reply. So its OK to squeeze the insulation into the gap. Its only for boxes & suitcases etc so will ensure the load is light

    Loft Insulation width

Hi, I am going to lay some more loft insulation over the top of existing Vermiculite. The Vermiculite is about 2in and the rafters are 4in. I intend to lay some 2in timber directly on top of each rafter to create a 4in gap, lay 4in loft insulation in this (to make a total of 6 in) and then board...

Should i be able to select HW and/or CH independently?

Thanks for the prompt reply :D TBH, i am not sure what type of system i have. I can see only one valve next to the HW tank with V4073A1039 on it. I have googled this and it comes up as a mid-position valve so would this indicate gravity? The HW tank is the other side of the wall with the...

Should i be able to select HW and/or CH independently?

Hi everyone. I moved into a new house before Christmas and typically, the previous residents left me no instructions for anything at all. The central heating appears to be a pumped system consisting of boiler, hot tank, 1 valve (that i can see) , central heating pump & radiators. The...

    Fused socket for Immersion Heater?

I got out the Manual and it does not show the rating of the Immersion but does specify a 13A double pole isolating switch so assume thats the one to use. Is this the one Kai? http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MKK0330.html?source=adwords&kw=k330%20whi&gclid=CMmg07OEk5QCFRKS1QodmHm1tw...

    Fused socket for Immersion Heater?

Oops. blew it on the first sentence. Yes, i mean Hot Water Tank, sorry must have been thinking of the wife! Many thanks for the advice. I will replace the existing switch with a branded double-pole switch rated at 13A. I've got some of that heat-resistant cable left over.

    Fused socket for Immersion Heater?

Hi, newbie here! I have just had a new boiler fitted. The plumber would not wire up the Immersion Heater as it 'did not have a fused socket' and obviously could not wire it up as he would then take responsibilty etc etc. All perfectly reasonable given the circumstances. I like to think i...
