Thanks.
Is it not worth separating the machines from the sink waste & installing a seperate run? If so is a strap on boss available for a cast iron pipe?
I have an insane length for a kitchen waste (over 5 meters) & the fall is quite shallow in sprite of there being enough clearance from the floor to have given it more angle. I also have a washing machine & dishwaster connected to this run.
I'd like to lower the entry to the stack at least...
anybody used those drill attachments that effectively route out the channel? A friend offered to lend me his but warned me the dust is as bad as a grinder so I didn't take the offer up. From what he said it's a drill bit with wheels on to run along the wall cutting the channel.
For those that are interested, as promised pics of the shelf.. now realise I should have asked for advice on a floating shelf.. anyway.. BTW sorry the images are not the best quality, DV camera stills are plain cr@p.
Cheers for all the advice...
Before painting.
After painting...
ah!.. genius...
Think a handsaw probably wouldn't be as easy to use in the situation.
Tend to use handsaws all the time though as I don't like annoying the neighbours with the noise of a jigsaw at 8 in the evening.
This is for the end & the worktop is in situ but just about an inch & a half too long.
Cheers for the tips, will look for a laminate bit although would a metal bit do?
over the course of 2 hours & it's now 3.30 am!
Had me in hysterics but I don't feel I can add my own as they aren't as interesting to read.
Although one story is funny. Bought a house with my sister & planned to do it up. The living room had this horrible spiky artex stuff on the ceiling & we...
well the plan was to paint it white but it does look quite smart natural. I've used some white filler on it so guess it would be too late.
Stick with the plan me thinks, there are some other bits which could do with hiding with paint, like the timber stamps & nails for the ply underneath.
Well it's all up now & I've had me & a mate both about 75-80 kg hanging from it.
In the end I went with some 250/200 mm box section angle brackets that I recessed into the plaster, screwed directly into the walls & plastered over. The shelf is just lengths of 28 mm pine which is 220 mm deep...
Gone for the bracket method. Found some box section brackets that are 250/200 & have recessed into the plaster to fit them direct to the wall.
Great looking shelves there Tom.
I'm planning on building a shelf spanning over 4 meters & am looking for advice on what material to use. I think I've solved the issue of how to mount the shelf thanks to replies to my question in general questions. A quick run down is that I think i should be able to carry the weight across the...
