    Icos HE12 - A quick question if I may

Hi, Not been on here since you guys offered some excellent advice re: the boiler in my previous place. Now live in a 3 year old house and we have the ICOS HE12 boiler which serves us for CH and HW (not a combi type boiler). I've started having an issue where the pump is continuing to run...

Mains Water from street leak. Advice please.

Thanks Jono, Water company tells me it's my responsibility and I can't claim on buildings insurance either! I've had a quote for the works you've referred to (new feeder from street and disconnection of old lead feeder) including trenching and making good. I'm only 3m from the street so...

Mains Water from street leak. Advice please.

Hi all, Neighbour has noticed a small 'fountain' of water eminating about 4" above ground on his side and against the wall of my building. We isolated our stopcocks in turn but didn't have any effect. Isolated the street taps in turn and isolating mine stopped the flow. Assuming the...

    Electric shock from sink ?solution

I'm assuming the sink was originally supplementary bonded via the main cold incomer? Changing to plastic piping sounds like the earth fault path has been broken. The main earth to the house will usually either be via an earth rod to ground or by using the sheathing of the incoming...

Hi, This boiler is killing me! I've had several problems with it over the last couple of years but I've been able to resolve and repair these (on several occasions due to the great advice on this forum). Current problem: Lock out lamp coming on every couple of hours whether using CH...

    Radiator knocking?

I think I can vary the pump speed iif I remember rightly so I'll try that. TRV is quite old now actually and a visible inspection shows it could be worn and a bit 'battered' so I'll change that I think. Actually they are not all on (TRVs down to zero) as our upstairs get quite warm, not...

    Radiator knocking?

I've got the one already mentioned and 8 others (all around 800x600) + a heated towel rail in the bathroom. Am I over the capacity of the boiler? I'll try taking the TRV head off. If that cures it, should I be changing the TRV for one more suitable for the rad? Thanks for your time.

    Radiator knocking?

Sorry guys getting a little over my head. All running off Biasi 24S (96,000 BTU capacity). Not sure of the BTU of the rad itself but it's a fairly large one (hallway) I guess 1800x600 in size. Bypass valve? Sorry if I'm being a bit dull.

    Radiator knocking?

Thanks for the reply, Do you mean in relation to where they can be placed or for general operation?

    Radiator knocking?

CH has developed a knocking at one of my downstairs rads. If I turn to TRV down a little, it stops buts comes back after a while. I did read somewhere that this can be caused by a TRV being installed on the flow instead of the return (or vice versa), I can't remember but I'm sure my TRVs...

Preparation for carpet fitter help please

Hi, I'm looking to have my hall, stairs, and landing carpeted. I understand the need to make sure I use concrete or wood grippers (nail types) for the correct surface but I have a question on placement of grippers. I'm ok with the stairs and landing but my hallway is tiled and the...

    Hedge taking over garden....help!!

Thanks for the reply, I hadn't thought too much about fence style to be honest but I did ponder on whether I actually need one with this hedge 'tidied' up. Our garden is definitely a haven for wildlife, etc. Problem is, the garden is only around 12ft wide and this hedge has already taken up...

    Hedge taking over garden....help!!

Hi all, Anyone got any ideas on how to tackle this (see images)? I need to put in a boundary fence this summer and I think this will need more than a quick strim! Can anyone suggest the best method/tool to cut this back? Thanks.
